Yep, 12 month rent. If he performs & they stay up; brilliant move. Opposite; they bin & this years earrings plus £48m parachute should help a little.

So @LincolnSaint are you going to admit we've had a much better transfer window than last year yet ands things have changed under the new owners? I make that 6 players signed and 0 sold (I'm not including contract expiries). :)

No, not yet. If we sell KWP and/or JWP I'd say no. If these lads are in addition to our previously ****e squad then maybe. We're going to have to wait for the window to close

I get that this has to be our business model to a certain extent, but it does seem they're all very young and unproven. It'll either work or we'll get relegated <laugh>

For me its vitally important that we move on several peripheral players too both financially and for the sake of the squad as you don't want players just hanging around the proper first team squad

I would rather we got the players in that we need first. Secondly, we will need greater squad depth this year so players that would not give us much of a fee are fine for fringe players although I wouldn't keep them against their wishes.

I think it’s more likely that some of the fringe players move right at the end of the window (if at all). We’ve seen how hard it can be to move squad players you don’t want out of the Premier League and off of those comparatively large contracts. If we’re prepared to accept loans or making top up payments of wages, those deals become easier as all parties get more motivated with shorter amounts of time left in the clock.

I’m just pleased that the greater financial mobility offered by Sport Republic has enabled us to focus on our more urgent needs from the start. If we sell the likes of Bednarek, I’d still feel confident of the club making sensible attempts at reinvestment. It’s all a gamble and who knows how it results in terms of on-pitch improvement but the overhaul has been aggressive, realistic and not at all scattershot.

Nice. I’m hoping he has a season like Dewsbury-Hall where he can come back and fit into the squad after a strong showing in the Championship.

I think you’ll find that has been Saints for the last 50ish years. I’m expecting a re run of last season. Nearly very good/ nearly relegated.

Given the state of some of these other teams, I think we’ll be totally fine. Lots of very beatable idiots this year. Everton, for example, have somehow contrived to get even worse after looking nailed on to slowly drift down into the relegation zone for most of last year. Forest are in that zone that rarely occurs where a team almost accidentally gets promoted and enters the PL wholly unprepared and with too much to do to be ready. Leicester will be surprisingly bad unless something massive changes.

It’s kind of a free hit as transition seasons go, but I’ve certainly ****ed it now and we’ll get doubled by those three in particular. :smiley-finger007:

If he can stay fit and a have a full season of football it will do wonders for his career. We clearly know there is a player there as we aren't giving up on him.

He is one I'd really like to see succeed, whether that be with us or elsewhere, it would be a real shame if injuries ruined his career.

    Good move for him.

The plus point with it being Stoke is he doesn’t have to change the colour of his curtains, duvet cover and pillows.

You guys all have red and white bedrooms right?

There is someone who alludes to being ITK on Saintsweb suggesting up to 4 new incomings. 2 definite - striker and loan full back cover

The others - CB and AM will require departures

They also suggest that Bednarek, Diallo and Valery are all wanted for the squad.

And that we still want Broja (and apparently he and his family still want us which doesn’t align with other rumours). But Chelsea have been messing around - exactly how is unclear. Perhaps the dialogue that they want him to stay or over pricing him (for us).

Perhaps the deal isn’t dead because West Ham are both bidding for another striker and will not consider a buy back clause (which we clearly would)

No idea how accurate this person has been to date because I haven’t gone back through the posts. They were the one suggesting two medicals have been booked for this week (but I don’t know if youth or women’s team count in that number)
