Don't forget Ryan Wintle from Crewe. He plays midfield. <ok>

Wintle is no play maker though, he's more on the lines of Vaulks and Pack. He'd overload the defensive mid options unless someone goes.

We need a serious contender for that No 10 spot - I hope we're not assuming that Tomlin is going to play 46 games this season.

Sang and Colwill? <whistle>

Good shout Bluey and I'm all for giving them a shot at it, but it would be some ask for them to step up for the season.Tomlin has the quality and experience, but can we rely on him?

I think we'll need some real Championship (or above) quality to find the gaps unless we rely on the long punts to Keiffer and that 6' 9" bloke to bounce the ball off.

If we're going down that road again we might as well stick with the current midfield to break up the opposition "on the floor" attacks, because on the recent evidence we sure as hell wont create any of our own.

I agree Sparks.

No sign of any creative signings although early days. Sabitzer of Austria and Locatelli of Italy look useful. <yikes>

Not another defensive midfielder <doh>............

278 league appearances and 9 goals, that's a goal every 30 games.:emoticon-0138-think

Another Northern Ireland international.

Are the hacks just trawling lists if NI players at the end of their contracts and automatically linking them with MM?

Also at 30 years old he hardly fits the profile the club are said to want to develop.

That's a no from me.

.............and why another free agent/out of contract player? They seem to be all we're ever linked to.

Can't we actually buy anyone? Forget the money side of it, are we actually able to?

I'm sure theres a plan.
Well, I hope there's a plan.
Can't see what it is though.

Probably don't need to know what it is to be fair.
Would be nice to have a clue though.

A 'recruitment consultant' used to working with frees and loans.
Another 'one for the future'.
Signings / rumours in positions we have plenty of players (was going to say strength, but thought that was a step too far).

I really hope MM has a vision and that the bits fall into place.
Just a bit concerned at present.

I think I said that with the youngsters coming through we needed 3 out and 3 in, with another 2 or 3 to replace loanees that have gone back or players who's contracts ended.
So far, you could argue we've got 1 so far. Everything else hasnt fit the bill.

I'm still convinced we can't transfer the contract of a player at another club to ourselves - in other words buy someone who is under contract elsewhere.

Every player signed or linked with the club so far has been an out of contract free agent. I don't believe this is just about not spending money.
