Probably Nin. Better to keep what you know you have rather than having to chase around on the last day of the window. I would still prefer us to keep Etheridge. He will be the best keeper in our league and a statement of intent to show we are serious - in defence at least.

Where's this new striker we need?

Selling Etheridge will probably pay for him.

I hope that's not what is holding us up.

You have to remember that selling Etheridge will also release his wages as well as the cash from his sale.

Not sure what you'd have to contractually pay a decent striker, but throwing the dosh that Etheridge is currently on back into the pot would certainly help.

Wiki says he's our player. May be a little premature.

Not sure he is a striker, midfielder or winger. Scored 9 for Oxford last season so not prolific and has a strike rate of 28.6% shots on target.

Seems a bit of a rough diamond. As ever, time will tell.

I see Lukaku flew out of Manchester as soon as United returned from their tour.

Has VT really splashed the cash? <yikes>

Warnock quoted on radio today as saying close to signing a striker. Is it this NI player from Oxford?

Surely not; a proven no 9 is needed. And I don’t mean Madine (maybe Oxford could have him on loan since we seem to be doing a few deals with them now<whistle>)

About what? As slow as a snail?

Probably, but the point I was trying to make is the first time we went up under Malky, Helguson top scored that season with 9 goals.

In our desperate search for a "figurehead" front man, we should remember we went up as Champions that year and the goals came from all over the pitch.

Ive said it repeatedly sparkey, i think 20 goal a season strikers are white elephants.
There are more teams in the championship end the season with a 20 goal striker and dont get promoted than do.

Last year was an odd one given how many got to 20.
Mcburnie scored 20. Fat lot of good it did the swans. WBA had 2 score 20 plus and didnt go up. Brentford and brum had one each, nope, no promotion.

Ive looked back over 5 or 6 seasons, and a 20 goal striker isnt the answer.

As an aside, just watched archive footage of us against man city the first time we were up. We played some good footy. Not sure we have that quality at the moment.

Same as last time with I think Paterson top scoring with 10.
Sort out a defence and a goal per game from any Tom Dick or Harry will suffice.
