On 27 December 2016, Aston Villa turned down an £25m bid from an unnamed club from China for Amavi. Reports in France also claimed that Marseille had also bid for the player.[9]

they turned down £25m!
 
Elphick is a very decent crash-tackling Championship centre back. I guess these are the big wage earners that are being ditched, rather than the worst performers.

Bruce hasn't been playing him, he only started one game in the last two months of the season and only about three or four games this year.
