But isn't the idea to get out of the Championship next year and then reassess next Summer? McCormack might be ideal for phase 1

If we hang to the forwards we've got I think we'll score goals, it's the supply source that is the main problem we could build a decent midfield with 10 million quid too.
 
Oops that was supposed to be a like but I can't undo... McCormack is not worth anything like 10m. 4m at very most and even that's steep I think

So say we splash £8-10m on him this summer, and his goals get us promoted. There's a reason why nobody in the Prem is desperate to stump up that cash, so presumably his goal return in the Prem would be poor, and we'd look to move him on. 2 seasons on and his value will have dropped significantly, so we'll be lucky to get half that back.

Instead, a £3m or so signing who looks to be on the up, say...Grabban. Has a decent season and we go up. If he adapts well, his value triples. If he doesn't, he'll hold his worth at least.

Why risk big money on a player when we're unlikely to get it back, and he doesn't guarantee promotion any more than a player half the price?

I really can't see that going down the QPRcelona route will do us any long term favours.
In fact, that club is living proof that it won't.
 
Side note - Looks like adeyemi could be off to cardiff, would have liked to have seen him come back here would be ideal when games are piling up and what i saw of him at brentford and a bit last year, he's probably better than johnson.

is rvw's tweet sarcastic? well, that was certainly how i read it. but that's probably because i believe the pair disliked each other - if you don't share that way of thinking then you probably wouldn't sense any sarcasm.

is snodgrass an ungrateful prick? possibly, possibly not. just because he hasn't praised norwich fans doesn't make him ungrateful. he (attempted) to do his talking on the pitch and showed commitment to the club when playing, which wasn't always the case with all the players. to be honest, i really wouldn't be surprised to see him come out and say something later on about his time at norwich and praise the fans - though if i were him, i doubt i would, baring in mind they booed him during a game, remember? why does it matter if he doesn't say anything on twitter anyway? some people need to get a grip. he's moved on, we've got a cracking deal for him. personally i'm quite pleased he's left (regardless of the fee) because i think he caused us as many problems as he solved down that right flank.

Out club is run like a circus, McNally is in his flowing red coat and curly moustache, cracking the whip. Bowkett is a little bit like a small baby elephant trying hard to stand on two legs, and clearly Wynne Jones dribbles like a clown after a few drinks. Delia then mixes them all together to make sure everyone will have a good time in the circus tent that is carrow road as we laugh at ipswich
 
OK, I've read a few of the posts over the last few days and in general, we are agreed that NA would not have our preferred choice of manager, but the vast majority are agreed that we get behind him and the team from the start of the season - there will ALWAYS be a few who are ready to condemn him before he has tried to bring a few new players/let others leave etc etc, but that I feel is human nature.

I'll 'nail my colours to the mast'. I'm not convinced by the board's statement that "NA was the only candidate who was offered the job" - I think that it translates as "he was the only candidate who was willing to work within the constraints we laid down for the post" (Which reminds me - where is our 'Technical Director' or whatever he/she is called??).

I'll definitely be behind the team from the off and hoping to get to the last friendly and will then be taking my usual seat in the N&P for the rest of the season, proudly wearing my new shirt.

C'mon you Yellows!!! <ok>
 
Adams was not my first choice, by any means, but I can now see more clearly what the Board was thinking when they appointed him. If Malky (my choice at the time) had come in, it would be Malky's way or no way (pretty clearly demonstrated at Cardiff, IMO) and probably pretty defensive minded as well.

Looking back, the Club's greatest successes were under managers new to the game. Neither Ken Brown or Dave Stringer had managed before, but they built and developed teams. Brown's team finished 5th and Stringer's 4th in the top league in each case. Mike Walker went one better by finishing 3rd, having only managed at Colchester before coming to Norwich. If you get the right man, with the right team behind him, it can succeed big time. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that Adams will succeed big time, but IMO, McNally and the Board place a lot of emphasis on the qualities of the man. I'm sure that was McNally's thinking when he convinced the Board to replace Gunn with the relatively inexperienced Lambert. I also think he saw those qualities in Hughton, but unfortunately he didn't get the style of play he was looking for. Adams has set out to achieve attacking play with good passing football. Let's all hope that the qualities and style blend and develop big time again with Adams now.
 
I think the reason I'm feeling relatively positive is that this is the first season where, in my opinion, the only thing I'm really concerned about is the manager.

For as long as I can remember we've had big concerns about any number of:
(1) our finances
(2) our players
(3) our ability to stay in the league
(4) our existing style of play
(5) our competitors in the league
(6) our manager
(7) no possible derbies to thrash the binners

And many more. While some of these haven't completely gone away (e.g. finances are obviously weaker, and style of play is a bit of an unknown) this is the first season in ages where the only massive concern I have is over the first team manager. And the club have mitigated that concern massively by bringing in a host of experienced coaches to take much of the responsibility away from him.

And that's why my glass is half full <ok>

What I'm looking forward to is going into each game knowing that we can win it and hopefully, we won't be on the receiving end of any thrashings (don't mind if we dish out one or two!!!). Most of our opponents will obviously raise their game against us being one of the relegated teams anf it's up to the manager and the players to be aware of that and respond accordingly.

And yes, my 'glass is half full too!!' <cheers>
