Twitter: Football MAD ‏@FootballMad92_ And Ronald Koeman, Southampton's boss, is also ready to revive his interest in Norwich winger Nathan Redmond,
I wonder if he'll want to go. Seems as though he could start most games at CR, would he get the same opportunity at the Dell???
Think the Saints left the Dell for St Marys sometime back, JR, but your thinking on Redmond seems right to me.
If it's Saints looking we just need to use their pricing system so for a promising England youth prospect, start the bidding at £15m .
absolutely no truth in the hooper rumour. not so sure about the redmond one but i don't think we'll sell him.
I hope that is untrue, we've got a starting 11 that's is beginning to work together, I thought Redmond had a good game on Saturday his linking up well with Hoolahan it would be a shame to break that.
Just a thought, Cattermole has had a new lease of life under Poyet, confining Bridcutt to the bench, how about asking for a season long loan for him?
When you tally up the ins and outs and put into that the cut backs we need to make this season , how much money do you think we have left in the coffers to spend on new recruits? I'm guessing £5m or £6m at a push, for that we could get a very good replacement for Leroy from the continent.
We seem to be operating a sell to but strategy as I'm fairly sure we haven't spent more than we brought in. Whilst there was money that could be made available, I think not spending too much is wise. We've had a massive drop in revenue so do need to be carful with each pound we spend. I think our business has been excellent this summer.
Strong rumours that Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe might be coming from Brugge to replace Fer. Won't repeat all the details, as there is a separate thread on this.
I would guess we trousered about £17m and spent about £9m plus the wages of Cueller for a season as he was free. To be honest it is very satisfying to win without any of our megabucks signings when Hooper and Howson return they will have to fight to get back in the side as will Jerome that is exactly what you want. Gone are the days of the same 11 knowing they will start regardless of form, i hope.
Couldn't agree more. From the evidence I've seen so far, we seem to have bought 'hungrier' players than those we've sold, which is exactly what it will take if we're to be anywhere near the top of the league come next May!!!
Transfer Central TNC ‏@TransferNewsCen 1m Daily Star: Arsenal are weighing up a move for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.
You also have to consider the wage budget. We might struggle to bring too much more in until we have got rid of Bunn, Bassong and Becchio. Our other major problem could be a last day big money swoop by Southampton for Redmond and the same by QPR for Hooper if they lose Remy at the last minute.
Things are quite worrying in the transfer department, especially after what happened with Pilkington and what Adam's said to the press after Fer left, I get the feeling the board are micro managing him a bit. Even though Hooper is injured I'm not sure how highly he is thought of by our board and Redknapp has a knack of unsettling players.
IMO, we have to compare where we are at the end of the window compared to where we were at the start of last season. Elmander and Yobo ended their loan (Yobo only 6 months) and could be said to have been replaced by Jerome and Cuellar (though on permanent contracts). Snodgrass could be said to have been replaced by Lafferty and RvW by Grabban. At the moment Fer has been replaced by O'Neil but could be more equally replaced if the signing of Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe from Brugge comes off. Pilks has in a sense been replaced by Josh Murphy. We have also had Elliot Bennett and Surman return to the squad, meaning we are up by two players as it stands now. Even if Redmond and/or Hooper were to depart (which I think is unlikely), we wouldn't be caught totally short. You could also add the progression of Jacob Murphy, Gafaiti and Loza as bonuses. IMO, Adams has done as good a job as he could covering all losses or even potential losses.
I'm quite happy to rip off Southampton some more for Redmond. 18 million should seem reasonable for them.
It's a bonus but I would rather see them used in cup games and cameo appearances, I don't think they are experienced enough to replace long term injuries if we pick them up. I still think we need another flair player from somewhere or someone with some technical brilliance, Wes is our main outlet at the moment we need a secondary source.
We don't have the same limitations on how many we can include in our squad now we are not in the Premier League and we play more matches more frequently .
Good, I still think we need two or three additions, it's obvious Bassong and Becchio are not required best to get the off the wage bill and re-strengthen.
