As I mentioned in the other thread, we'll likely get a lot of people saying no due to the high level we're pitching at. We need a few buying into the vision and takings calculated gamble, then more will be inclined to say yes.

Yep, but Gaston aside, the big names haven't come. We are aiming high and that means we get rebuffed a lot, I get that. Will be glad when the window closes and the uncertainty is over....
And who have we been rebuffed by? And I mean first hand not through papers . I can only think of Coutinho.
I like to imagine him saying that with a Tyrion-esque stab of a dagger (ballpoint pen) into the table.
To be fair it's a forum and views are there to be debated. Just got to thicken your skin a little and be prepared to fight your corner. No one is really out to get you on this forum, we're a decent lot.
You're being a little over-sensitive I think. I don't believe anyone's having a pop at you.
As am not claiming to be ITK I can't give a list of rebuffs but I guess there must have been a number given where we are set our targets now. My comments were more aimed at the fact we get linked with so many now because we have premier money and are clearly looking to develop our squad, but Gaston aside, the exciting ones haven't happened so far... Will wait and see but disappointment in the transfer window has been a staple part of most years I have been a saints fan...
I wasn't jumping, I was asking a question. If you think I was jumping then you won't last long on this forum. There are far more people that can't debate on here then me.
Might also be that we're linked with a lot because we're a Premier League side with lots of money - easy job for journalists to stick our name with every mid-table standard player.
I'm more than happy that we're shopping at the same store as top European clubs.

Guess I am waiting for us to pull something out of the bag... Since Pahars, can really think of a signing from nowhere that has had much impact for us. Players like Benteke and the likes are ones we never seem to uncover. Am not looking for the big money splash necessarily, because any team can buy a player that way (look at QPR). Am thinking more the mid money signings that surprise and excite. Also worries me that the likes of Norwich and Villa look to be making exactly those sorts of signings. We have a great core but were lucky with injuries last season, would really like to see some true depth to the squad to solidify our status in the top flight. I worry if we keep chasing the big ones (if we are) we may end up without much of an improved squad as supposed big clubs living on former glories gazump us...
