Lens' comments are not all that surprising and in many ways understandable. he's an international who wants to remain so and his next move is massive in terms of his progression.

If, as I half expect, we annouce the signings of Buenno and Astori over the next week or so, this should change things a little bit interms of our perception across europe?

For me, signing a young international startet and a much courted international centre back, coupled with what we already have in terms of facilities, management and structure might make players like Lens and others take us seriously when we make a bid. Getting a couple of big signings in early should allow us to relax a bit and will certainly make the sort of players we want to attract sit up and take notice.

Are they direct quotes? Or through a newspaper etc. We all know how words can be twisted.

Lets be honest. Would you if you were an international, fancy moving country to a newly-promoted side? After 10 games we had 4 points and 8 defeats so at that point he was justified. You wouldn't want to risk leaving behind PSV Eindhoven in turn for a move to a side who could easily be back in the 2nd tier. It's natural and I totally understand it. If we approach him again and sign him - that's great. I wouldn't be bothered about last summer.

I've read on saintsweb that we are being linked with croatian defender Dejan Lovren.

All i can say is i dread the possibility of Lovren playen for Saints, he is worse than awful, utterly useless player

and i say that as a croat and a lyon fan

Saints have been in contact with Lyon for Lovren: http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/seri...lovren-avanza-il-southampton-le-ultime-454856

The Southampton tries to act in advance. In the viewfinder no Dejan Lovren, Lyon defender, who has also attracted the interest of Milan. The company's chairman Nicola Cortese is on the player, there have been contacts. Rating estimated at approximately 10 million euro. Lovren can go to England, Southampton is now at the forefront. Cortese these days is on vacation with his coach Mauricio Pochettino: will take advantage to explore all market situations and take stock of the negotiations. Lovren is a concrete idea.
