Looks like his contract doesn't end for a year? So scrap that. I was talking about a free transfer. I checked and looks like his contract expires end of 2014.
I will say that anyone suggesting Heitinga wouldn't improve us is deluded/arrogant. Heitinga has 85 caps for Holland and has played for Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Everton. Hooiveld has no caps and never will get any whilst Heitinga got called up for Holland again a few days ago. Hooiveld's played for a few mediocre teams in Scandanavia, didn't make it at Celtic (7 appearances..) and had a made more individual errors than any centre back in the league this season I'm guessing. To say Heitinga wouldn't be a good signing on a free is completely laughable to me.

Players do get to the stage were they start to decline. Yes he used to be a good defender but if he plays anything like he did this season he wouldn't be worth it. His wages are bound to be high as well.
This would be a logical answer if Hooiveld and Heitinga were the only two centrebacks in the world. They aren't, best I'm aware.
I haven't yet read anyone say that he is not better than what we have. I said, I think we can do better.

Nah that was Kjaer, who I thought we might go for last year but sadly he seems to have revived his career at Wolfsburg.
Looks like signing Ramirez has given the Italian press the impression we will sign any available players from Italian clubs! (or perhaps it's true?)

No to selling shaw. Although its interesting that there is talk of lukaku being sold... how about Lukaku comes here, we give them money and shaw goes nowhere!
We must remember that Shaw is a prospect....a good prospect, but a prospect just the same. He is our player who has come through the academy so we value him highly, but surely a team like Chelsea may try to sign him but, if rebuffed, just move on to another player.
