    Bit of both but primarily the latter, I believe he's broken his shinbone twice and done his knee in a couple of times too. Like I said, he has shown that he has all the tools but needs to stay healthy to make any real progress, and now you've got to add adapting to the PL to the obstacles in his way. Bit of a risk/reward signing, but since it's on a free not a great deal of risk for Sunderland providing they bring in other options too.

    See the Chairman of Crystal Palace said they will not be splashing the cash. Didn't work for Reading and, may I suggest, they are a better side than Palace.

    Different type of player; tall, strong tackler, a take-no-prisoners sort. There are certainly times when a player like that would be preferred to Clyne, even if he isn't "better" as such.

    In non-Saints news. Tancredi Palmeri says that Chelsea have made contact with Roma over De Rossi, with which it is possible a deal could be struck.

    Roma want 20m euro for De Rossi but could accept 15. Napoli have turned down a 30m euro + Torres bid from Chelsea for Cavani.
