Neymar would probably cut it in the PL as a wide forward. Not down the middle.

Yeah he's too lightweight, like Aguero, Coutinho, Silva, Modric, etc, etc...

It's less about him being lightweight and more to do with him not being the best passer or defender. He's definitely behind the above players in those regards.

I have just trawled through 727 posts in the hope that I might find some news on our transfers and another 245 in the hope that I might find some news on our new kit and guess what. Both threads were full of wind and I am none the wiser than when I started.

Does either thread serve any purpose at all?

Does any thread serve any real purpose in the grand scheme of things?

Perhaps the problem is that we haven't had any new signings or any news on the new kit. But we could make some news up if that would be better.

(Also the original post on this thread contains all the players we've been linked with thus far).

Maybe you should start a new thread to complain about it.

Huth/any of the Stoke team would get absolutely nowhere near him! Brazilian football is just as physical as the Prem, and it's malicious, and he's been the best player out there for the last couple of years. For the record I don't particularly like him as a player, and I think his decision-making and consistency are poor considering how hyped he is, but he'll turn out to be a 25 goal a season winger for Barca within a few years.

Checked out an Atletico Mineiro game the other day to see how Ronaldinho was getting on. They literally walk. It's pretty different.

Aguero isn't lightweight, he's pretty big actually (not in terms of height obviously), he's quite strong. The other 3 are all small in stature, and that's largely why they'd be ineffective down the middle, at least in the Premiership. For me, the same applies for Neymar. To be effective down the middle in the Prem, you don't necessarily have to be tall (though it helps), but you do need to have some degree of physicality, which Neymar doesn't possess.

As has been mentioned though I'm sure he'd be fantastic in a wide role or as a playmaker like Silva, Modric etc. Not that any of this matters if he's off to Barca anyway.

Ofcourse Neymar could play down the middle in the Prem. To suggest otherwise woud be madness! Modric, Silva, Mata, Coutinho are all similar builds to him and similar in style, in varying degress of selfishness ofcourse. He would certainly do well here. The fact he is a diving so and so pleases me he won't be though!

You might be right about Neymar, but I don't think size necessarily matters. Modric and Silva play(ed) centrally all the time and were never muscled out of games. The premier league might be more physical than most leagues but small skilful players are still (rightly) protected and if they are good enough and streetwise enough, they manage fine.

Modric, Silva and Mata are playmakers. Coutinho is probably best wide left. Neymar is very much a striker.
