I remember reading somewhere that it was on person in particular that vetoed our signing of Suarez for 20m I believe, does anyone remember who that was as I think they need a slap.
That is all.

Ultimately Spurs made failed offers for others strikers, including Fernando Llorente and Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi. "We kept looking at [Suárez] but people thought he couldn't play up as a striker," said Redknapp.
"They said he's like Rafa [van der Vaart] and you can't have him and Rafa or you'd have two players who want to drop deep, so that was the problem. We were looking for someone to play up front with Rafa. People said he couldn't do that, he drifts and comes deep. But he played up front on his own the other night [against Fulham on Monday] and he was fantastic."
He was insane and a little bird told me he lives in Luxury nutters tax dodge geriatric Asylum in the Bahamas.
On a brighter note , if we had signed him , we would have sold him by now.
Corzola was obviously quality though?
Just like Michu - top scoring midfielder in the league?
And Newcastle got ba on a free.
I just don't understand who is in charge of transfers as so many good players pass us by.
I can't even begin to go into how many times I've heard the phrase "there is no strikers better than we have that we can afford" - theres a boatload out there better than Defoe for sure.
Harry's quote sounds quite typical though "They said this", "they said that". He never would admit when he ****ed up. "Oh people said play 4-4-2, so I did and we lost so I was right". - no you just played a ****e team and have no technical ability to teach the players new formations Harry.
The point was that Redknapp wanted to sign Carzola, Michu & Remy and if he had his way he would have taken a gamble on Suarez. This was one of the reasons why him and Levy always clashed on transfers as after Redknapp purchased (and discarded) players fairly qucikly, there was a lack of trust from Levy that the players Redknapp wanted wouldn't be long term purchases and wasn't prepared to take the gamble.
However that was poor judgement from Levy as Redknapp has been proved right in his assessment of players he wanted to sign.
But never mind, as Sidney says, they would have been sold anyway as we don't keep our star players for long!
I understand Harry got through a fair amount of players, but I don't remember us losing a great deal on them either.
I mean, look how many ****e ones we have made before Harry - Ghaly, Tanio, Bentley, Fulop, Rocha, Bent, Rasiak. It's not like he came in and messed it all up.

Am I alone in being glad we didn't sign him?
I wouldn't want a nasty little cheat (etc) like that in a Spurs shirt.

If we had signed Suarez he would have gone when he threw his tantrum last season. Levy would have rolled over and sold him, fair play to Pool for keeping him. The way he's playing now proves the club made the right decision for LFC. Levy made the right decision for Bales career.
The common denominator in all the transfer dealings discussed so far is one man, and its not a manager. Inactivity when we've needed it and wastefulness when we do in the really key positions is down to Levy, most signings are ok but realistic ones we really want, we miss out on as previously noted.
It was Ian Broomfield who recommended we didn't sign Suarez. At the time, Broomfield was our Chief scout. He is now employed in a similar position at QPR.

How many teams would've got £85m for Bale and made sure that he pissed off abroad? Seeing as nobody else has managed it for any player, ever, I'm going with none.
I think Suarez will be off in one of the next two transfer windows, too. Madrid might even splash the Ozil cash on him, especially if they can offload someone else to offset the fee.
