I know this isn't really a discusion anymore but it doesn't sound like united or fergie really want to persue this any further. I think Evra should proberbly do the same, I'm not saying that its right to get away with racism but if there's no evidence either way then he is just digging his own grave.
I think this will leave the FA with a difficult decision to make if there is no evidence can they punish evra for making the claim? i'm not sure that they could it just wouldn't look right. Then suarez might look to the courts to claim damages from Evra and things will start to get very messy indeed, and no doubt some misguided fans will get involved at this point.
I think everyone was pleased with the fans on saturday, im just worried that if this saga continues much longer as it apears to be doing then we may see a return of the malicious hostility between the fans that most of us were glad to see the back of.

I agree, it is a reasonable article. I posted it because some on here said that Evra hasn't ever claimed racial abuse. There's also a story from when he was the only black player for Marsala in Italy, when he claimed racial abuse from the Italians. Some are keen to say that he himself has never claimed racial abuse it was deaf viewers/utd officials etc but whatever you believe, Evra has certainly got himself involved in a lot of stories about racism and this claim of his (whether or not it's is first 'actual' claim makes little difference) seems to be the latest in a long line of racist stories surrounding him.

I'm also shocked that some people want the stories to be true so that Suarez can get into trouble! I'd far rather it was all made up nonsense as I really don't want any form of racism surrounding football - or any other sport for that matter.

I agree that this thread has long since lost all pretence of being a serious debate- I can't believe the things that people will use as sticks to beat each other with.

I can just see the whole thing going nowhere tbh. They can't convict Suarez of such a serious act without conclusive proof - and so far we've heard little of that- but neither can they punish Evra unless there is conclusive evidence that Suarez did not say it, and surely that's virtually impossible to prove?

I think that both players said a few "choice" words to each other and from video clips that I have seen Evra was trying to needle Suarez to try and get him into trouble (retaliate to get sent off). When that didnt work he reported it to the ref and because he did that in order to substantiate his allegation he now is going to report it to the FA. I think the racism card is played a little too lightly by players earning such extortionate amounts of money. In my opinion all abuse (racial or otherwise) is wrong however when it comes down to a tete to tete on the pitch between just 2 individuals it is a case of one's word against the other. On all known evidence and taking previous experiences into consideration it would seem that Evra does not have much of a case

1. wanting to clean up rascim = good.

2. wanting to get a rival player in trouble over racism cos you don't like him = evil, low and scummy.

3. If alllegations are proven by the FA then fine..... but let them decide before blowing your load all over the internet wishing to use a just cause for bad ends. Until a case is proven or disproven you're just oding it to tarnish.

Sorry to keep this going but I've just thought about this - does anybody know what the 'certain' word was? We're all presuming it was the n word - but all this 'debate' and we don't even know what 'the word' is. Somebody just said siuppose the word was 'frog' !!! Does that count as racially abusive?
