I think it's important not to knee-jerk. When we get value for him (50 mil) we need to spend it wisely as a Carroll version 2 would make this situation unbearable

Suarez is running himself into real trouble. He's moaning about some kind of verbal agreement which LFC and he made a year ago. Now if that was during his new contract negotiations then why did he not demand that it was included as a term of the contract - after all the first rule of negotiation is to commit to wrtitng everything that has been verbally agreed.

I'm with the club on this. Stand firm and make the little **** suffer.

Don't feel like being smug but oh well....

****ing knew it. Until someone pays what we value him at, he can sulk all he wants. If we really takes us to court in that arbitration **** then that just shows how much of scumbag he is ( not that he hasn't shown enough of that). After all we have done and stood by him for, a small moursel of ****ing gratitude Luis ya?

If it goes to arbitration, he won't get his move by 2 September.

Also, as I've just pointed out on the Arsenal board, Luis saying he wants to go doesn't change anything for them...Wenger still needs to cough up!

No, he said it was written in the contract, not a verbal agreement. Direct quote too.

Rep :bandit:

So according to the Guardian report, Suarez isn't pissed off about the ghost release clause which never existed, but by a verbal understanding that we'd let him go if we didn't get CL football. That would explain why Liverpool were confident in declining Arsenal's bids and why Suarez didn't see the point in appealing to the FA about it. It wasn't a contractual issue.

Still, we're not saying he can't leave; just he can only leave for his value - which Arsenal don't want to bid.

I don't see an issue other than Suarez wanting to leave for less than he's worth to us...which won't happen.

Didn`t really read it did you, he said it is not only verbal it is written in the contract.

There is no release clause in his contract <doh>
We covered that weeks ago. Facts remain that we rejected a 40mill+ bid which would otherwise need to be accepted, and that Suarez decided not to take the issue to court = they have no contractual leg to stand on.

I think we can assume that it was an verbal understanding rather than written and that Suarez's agent is just a muppet who didn't put what his client wanted in either his first contract nor his renegotiated one only last summer.

Well it's easy to tell or not, someone (preferably an outside neutral) just needs to look at the contract, and see who's right and who's wrong.

you would have thought so wouldn't you but unfortunately it is not that easy <ok>

Fuming with all of this right now, he just keeps making the club look stupid. Get the 50 and get him out. Invest in Damiao, Papa, and some other quality **** and call it a day.

How do you know that? Do you work for Liverpool, do you have insider knowledge?

Couldn't agree more, but not to Arsenal (or Spurs).

I haven`t read it so i am torn between Suarez who is apparently willing to take it to mediation and Liverpool who are just saying trust us.

another reason I am fuming, what happened to I want out of England? Also, of course he does this interview with the club away as he does every interview, when he is not around the club.

If by some strange quirk he is proved right about the release clause who will have made the club look stupid then?

Been saying for a long time that he's a ****. With the **** he's put the club through I wouldn't be bothered to see him go. Having seen these article I'd prefer him to go. I'd even prefer him to go to Chelsea then one of those two!!!
