IF Bale is worth £85 million then Arsenal's bid for Suarez is just an insult!

I mentioned before that whilst I appreciate that Bale is younger and has less attitude problems than Suarez, it doesn't justify the gulf in valuations. Even then, Suarez has more goals and assists.

If Bale goes for 85 then Suarez should go for 70/80 I reckon

Reason for it is like you say is he is a coiled spring and I think Bales team play/passing is more consistent than Suarez's but **** me, Bale is most def not worth double the amount of Suarez. Arsenal need to raid a few more piggy banks or sell more season tickets

Thing is the Spuds saying reinvest it and everything all thats well and good but other clubs know youve just got this cash and will undoubtedly ask for more than a player is worth that you are targeting

We'd have the same problem in selling Suarez

Bale is over-valued, not Suarez under-valued rofl!

We all know that Bale is over-valued. We all know that Arsenal get a nose bleed if they even think over £15m. But after this news Wenger had better up his game or just disappear.

The reason why he is worth so much is because he is fast. I swear players valuations are often inflated dependent on how quick a player can run!

In addition - you're right when clubs know that you have a wad of cash to spend, they will inflate their prices.

This is why I think it's best to be proactive when tying up deals - hence why I think we did the right thing with Reina and Mignolet. Slightly different scenario but would Mignolet cost the same amount if Reina had left beforehand ?

Most definitely not mate which like yourself im glad we acted and BR made a big and imo good call in this case

Sky Sports. It's been suggested that the bid does not include any other Madrid player and it is suggested that it has been on the table for at least a week.

Christ, a cash offer of £85m for chimp head? haha, the World's officially gone mad, stop it I want to get off.

Bale's valuation is irrelevant to the value of Suarez.

Neymar, Cavanni, Higuain & Soldado are more relevant yardsticks as they've all moved / about to move, this summer for far less than the figure put on Bales monkey's head.

Completely agree. At the end of last season given the economic chaos in the EU and indeed in the majority of the Western World it was reasonable to assume that clubs would need to cut their overheads and cash in on some of their assets. In Greece, Spain and Italy clubs are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Yet somehow not only have prices gone up but the money is being found from somewhere to bankroll the whole thing. It's just crazyI

But is this some form of Black Bacchanal before the Grim Reaper calls demanding his dues?

I had a couple of trips to Spain on business last year & it's genuinely frightening how hard the economic crash has hit them. We've all seen it on the news etc, but the reality of how it's hit their everyday lives is quite shocking tbh. The masses of unfinished half built projects that are all over most of their major cities, the awful unemployment rate of circa 50%! yes 50%, in the 18-25 age group is going to create a welfare culture time bomb for them if it's not turned round soon & here's the vastly state supported Madrid offering £85m for a footballer with a chimps head & a soppy haircut. It can never be right.

Why don't you say what you really mean <laugh>

No it can't. It is immoral.

Could he be roddy McDowell in disguise (or not as the case may be)?

In todays commercial environment a players value is as much tied into his ability to generate income off the pitch as it is to his ability on it.

I would imagine due to Suarez recent history most clubs would see Bale as a more viable investment.

Bale may be more clean cut but Suarez draws crowds and whichever team he goes to will be top selling shirt [and local papers]
