People aren't seeing this for what it is.

Alex Hammond was loved by Scotland, pushed the leave vote and handed things off to Sturgeon, his protégé. She ****ed things up, didn't get the vote and partnered up with Brussels ASAP, leaving many Scottish nationalist angry.

Hammond had decided to run again after a few years out of the game and was expected to retake power of SNP or fracture off and take 60+% of the current SNP voters.

She used her good female friends within the party to claim that Hammond had sexually assaulted them during his time as leader of Scottish Parliament.

Hammond had to drop out of the elections due to the sexual assault allegations.

The country cried for an investigation, it was backed by sturgeon and publically stated that she will cooperate with investigations. She then blocked all 70/80 request made by investigators.

The investigation uncovered that the claims were false. The committee released the report but it was heavily censored by Strugeon and her team of lawyers and others.

What you have here is a totalutarian/ dictatorship. I live abroad now, but if this was happening where I'm from there'd be riots in the street.

No punishments. No guilt. No record. Censoring governing bodies. Censoring media. Censoring speech.

In Scotland, in this case and all around the UK people just don't give ****e anymore.

I love the highlands of Scotland, and I will be sad if they are removed from The UK, (politically rather than physically).
I have the best of memories of the Scots I have met over the years including members of the KOSB regiment I was, improbable as it may seem, billeted with for a time while in the RAF.
I also had the priveledge of Serving there for a time.
So, I'm Pro Scots and Scotland.
However I distrust all true fanatics. (The term FAN is applied to followers of Football Clubs or indeed any other sport or entertainment and doesn't seem to me to be the same thing).
Rather it is the Political Fanatics that worry me most.

Which brings me to Mrs Sturgeon from the north, and who knows our region well from childhoods visits to her Granny in Pallion.
Her Crusade for 'independance' has it seems taken over her life.

The last vote was supposed to be the last one for a generation.
But as soon as her view was rejected, she was itching for another go.
And I'm guessing that she will continue to campaign, irrespective of how many times the vote goes against her, until she gets a YES.
Then, no matter what polls may say, she will never agree to another vote.
I can not help but wonder WHY , when devolution gives control to the Scottish Parliament over much of the policies that are relevant to the daily lives of her electorate,

She claims that rule from London is intolerable. Too far away.
She claims to want to re-join The EU.
Rule from Brussels which is even further away.
But much would need to change with the EU before they could agree to accepting Scotland.
For a start ALL members must agree.
Will Spain agree to a precedent that might/would be used against them by their Catalonian population.
Answers on a postcard please!!!

Then there is the Economy.
At present the rest of UK subsidises Scotland.
This enables them to run a very 'Social' system, by far the best in UK in terms of youth at one end with frre University places and at the other end free care for the elderly.
EU Rules would require a period of austerity and it's hard to imagine these surviving in the highly unlikely case of their being admitted.

They do of course have OIL.
But thats not the asset it once was.
Oil Companies are diversifying into renewable energy sources.
Before the last Referendum One of the leading SNP lights was quoted as claiming that come Independence, Scotland would have strong Finances because, 'We will squeeze the Oil Companies till their pips squeak'.
Following that election the oil price fell through the floor and the Oil Companies paid very little to the treasury.
Had they been Independent and relying on oil irevenues they would have been broke.

Lets get up to date.
Could an Independent Scotland have coped with Covid?
The vast amounts that have been needed, so far, to keep people going.
Well, IF their credit rating was good enough, they too could have borrowed cheaply.
If their credit rating was poor, it would have been a struggle.
There are more questions but they all come down to cash.
Pensions for Civil Servants.
Armed Services, what allocation.
Share of National Debt to be taken on.
Feel free to expand this list.

If we come to the rather hilarious spat with the former leader, Mr Salmond it now seems as if Mr S has a point.
The SNP have tried very hard to keep files that should have been published, under wraps.
After being forced to release them they show that what Mr S claimed was true.
And now The Investigating Commitee has come out against her.
At best this was clumsy and inept by the SNP.

An election due.

Interesting.
90% of SNP/ Leave voters don't want to go back to EU if they won independence. They wanted independence.

Sturgeon and her gang are making too much money off the EU and ****ing with the UK parliament and getting paid to do so from the EU is a win-win for them.

Hammond would have taken a landslide if he ran against Sturgeon.

Over the last year the world has fought against this pandemic largely together as one showing that recent & historic disagreements can be set aside for the greater good of the worlds population. Sturgeon and her cronies have used it as a political platform to push for independence, it shows her for what she is, a horrible, tactless, disrespectful, poisonous snake. The SNP have created nothing but division for years, even she cant lie her way out of this surely.

She's also lied to her people. Promise them independence and the sign into the EU...

i honestly think most, if not all politicians enter that line of work determined to do good for 'their people' and improve lives, working conditions etc etc...then, the higher up the pyramid they reach the more they realise that they can make a few quid out of this, by the time they reach the higher positions they have learned all about expenses and the benefits they can gain just for getting involved in some major business plans and all the freebies they get...if they make it to possible PM or major tv work the rewards are immense and by then the 'helping of the people' is a long forgotten dream and memory.

Very good post SS. People do care mind, but up there the SNP, or the SNAZIS as my boss, a Scot, down here calls them have gained almost a totalitarian control of the civil service, the police and the justice system .

The SNP have also totally broken everything they have touched. Health, education, you name it, if they are running it, it is in rapid decline.

For sure people care, if she doesn't resign there needs to be protests but people seem to be too afraid of a public disorder/ breach of the peace. I'd certainly join in (travel permitted) if needed.

The independent enquiry by an SNP employee finds exactly what it was supposed to.

Man decides to keep job shocker.

Even Sturgeon has effectively admitted that she misled the house.

The only matter at debate is whether or not she really did forget about a meeting at her own home, with an ex leader of her party, in which he revealed explosive details of charges which were to be brought against him.

Of course she forgot. Run of the mill stuff that, anyone would forget. The SNAZIS go marching on.

crooked barstewards, but Boris has stopped her farting in church by never allowing indy ref 2 again, just think if they were ever able to get it, all English firms relocating back here, them lot having to pay the investment and equipment back for the oilfields , Govan Shipyards in glasgow get no more MOD orders and send them to the wear. They will not be able to use the pound, and cannot use the Euro as they wont be stable enough, and Spain will never let them join the EU as if they did the Barcelona autonomy movement would want independence from spain as well as the Basques in Bilbao. Then the railway services, police, nurses who pays for that not England Surley all the rail Rolling Stock , The unprofitable ferry services to all the islands, no more subsidies from Britain, Scottish tender illegal in England, Shetland islands have already said if Scotland has independence they also want independence from Scotland. The list just goes on that William Wallace brave heart lies has a lot to answer for .

Scotland did go it alone on some Covid measures and went as far as rejecting some of the policies from Westminster. While Boris blustered and overpromised with flip-flop policies she came across and reassuring and clear. There were no endless, tedious slides or pasty faced experts. In Scotland Nicola gave you the details; candid, stark and to the point.

As the original virus hit England first and as a consequence of some Boris bright ideas opening up England ahead of Scotland, she had the benefit of hindsight as she gazed on her southern neighbours. She was more cautious and as a result Covid numbers have been significantly lower than in England and elsewhere. Part of that is also due to her clear messaging, she lead the podium very well and in general the people of Scotland went along with this.

She has also used this quite shrewdly as political capital for her campaign to be the leader of an independent Scotland.

And it was all going so well until this can of worms spilled out, wreaking havoc all over her show. There's no doubt that people are questioning her integrity and that same sincerity she displayed on TV screens during this pandemic. Support for the SNP has been more than dented a bit and it seems Labour, not Ruth Davidson's Tories who are picking up. And it could get worse, if the recently commissioned Education Report gets leaked ahead of the May elections (the delay in its publication is Nicola's doing) it could tip the scales and consign the current notion of Inderef2 to history.

That's horseshit, but believe what you will

have you looked at the state of the schools , police health plus they have lost 500 mill

As I said the report on Scottish Education will be damning. The police service is not in crisis and the health service is in better shape than England. If you're referring to the Growth Scheme then there is a 96m shortfall from the original 500m project

She has been seriously damaged by this. The committees report will be published tomorrow and it won't get any better

Nicola Sturgeon's Covid briefings have descended into brazen farce that shames BBC Scotland – Brian Wilson
There has been justifiable outrage from within the SNP’s internecine war about Nicola Sturgeon’s shameless use of the Covid-19 “public health briefing” to launch a sustained attack on her adversaries.

Nicola Sturgeon has angrily rejected claims of a "cover-up" after an outbreak of coronavirus was linked to a Nike conference in Edinburgh at the end of February. At her daily coronavirus briefing, the First Minister said concerns over patient confidentiality meant details of the event were not made public earlier.

think you have just stood in your own horse ****, a dishonest woman backed by morons
