We never get supermarket eggs any more, they’re tasteless compared to fresh farm eggs, you also got the bonus of double yolks in half of them.
They absolutely are 100% better - always a rich dark yellow yolk and a solid albumen, bags of taste; I have a heavy breed of bantie (Marans) they lay the most beautiful dark brown egg and once in full swing they lay one a day each for months on end. I'll never buy a 'shop' egg again.
They are indeed. My 2nd to last unfortunately passed a week ago. I am left with 1 now. Obviously she cannot stay on her own. I have never experienced introducing new birds to the flock. I don't really have the means to keep them separate for a period either. Some say its OK to let em figure it out...others not. I was thinking if I get 20wk+ age, they should be able to stick up for themselves until the hierarchy is agreed (obviously my current one on top).
