Striker is the weakest area of the team, because we have 1. Mitrovic is an out of position centre half (which might be over-estimating his technical abilities!), Perez doesn't look like he'll be able to score enough in this division.

Of the players we keep getting linked with, I am not entirely sure many would score the 15 goals we need from a main man, or provide enough to the team in terms of assists etc to justify not being a goalscorer.

I can understand Rafa being frustrated because the window is ridiculous and we are currently one of the poorest teams in the Premier League, or at least have one of the most limited budgets. Is waiting going to help? Well we've got some big games early on where points will ultimately aid in our survival bid, so I think it is perilous to wait. Not only do I think waiting will not help much with the budget, but I think it's very unlikely anyone more interesting will become available. Coutinho, Sigurdsson, Van Dyke etc may start the spending spree across the division, but realistically I think we are out of that particular loop, and I genuinely feel we have zero to spend and are reliant on loans from here on in (like Kenedy). Is their room for us to get a player like Origi, Lookman, Giroud or someone who won't get a strong look in this year? We'll see.

I wish the window ended before the season started.

JPF, how you doing mate...

I keep telling you - Mitro will come good <ok>

Not too bad Heed, the pros are I'm moving on up the pyramid hopefully, and I've been with my lass (stunning) for over a year. The massive downers are that I still live in Scumderland and said lass is from a Mackem supporting family... I keep taking her to Newcastle games to piss off her Dad <laugh>

How are you mate? In good health?

We should all have a meet up at a Match this season

I think/hope so too.
He scores for Serbia so can actually find the back of the net. Perhaps he isn't getting enough chances here, we're not playing to his strengths.
Also what I love about him other than his passion and being madder than a march hare is that he is a handful. i wouldn't want to play him. He's an outlet if we are up against it and he can bring other people into it.
Obviously I'd love for him to score 20+ goals but if he only scores half of those and sets up more then he's doing something right.

Anyway, I love the fella. He will come good and I hope it's in a Newcastle shirt

Not easy, moving up the pyramid, so hope it goes well.
Keep up the good work on converting your lass and annoying her family...<ok>

Health wise, I'm doing well.

As Nev says, Liverpool for meet up.

Fair enough but again that's only the last 2 seasons and incorporates his best season ever at Deportivo 37/17.

Arsenal fan's like him because he scored important goals in the cup's last year - 6 goals in 10 cup appearances but only 1 league goal in 11 games. The other goal he scored in that period was in his one appearance for Deportivo before being sold to Arsenal last summer (100% strike rate <cheers>). Again the guy is nearly 29 and should have scored more career goals than 63 in a 10 year career.

Now if he was coming in to play off the striker (wings or AM), I admit his assist rate is good, I'd be a little more excited but just don't see this guy scoring 10 goals in the EPL this year as an out an out forward.
I would ideally like a more prolific goalscorer signed too. We need someone lethal. Perez would still be a good signing - can cover number10, left wing and striker if injuries are mounting (or if he's having a Deportivo season).

Mitrovic needs to start coping with the pressure of playing for his boyhood team. He often looks almost panicked when he has a goalscoring opportunity and then almost inevitably fluffs his chance. He needs to get colder and far more clinical and then he might make it - seems to get a good few chances so that part of his game isn't too bad.

By all accounts Rafa cannot stand the guy and hates both the fact he's got no money to replace him and the fact Charmless can't sell him to get cash!!

Just a rumour mind.

His past exploits and lack of goals have left him with only one way to stay at the club. He has to score enough goals to change Rafa's mind. If he does then it's win/win.
