Don't think we've had a thread dedicated to a storm since Ophelia a few years ago........

Anyway we're under a Red warning from 7am until 11am as Eunice passes close to the south coast and heads over towards South Wales.......

Wind is very gusty at the moment but it would be worse if it was tipping with rain, but fortunately the sun is out in patches so all in all it's not too bad......

Hopefully the picture above works as it shows Tramore Prom a few minutes ago........ the one saving grace is that high tide past a few hours ago so any storm surge shouldn't be too great and businesses on seafront might escape flood damage....

Stay safe all and batten down the hatches......

Nearly all trains in my neck of the woods were cancelled. I was lucky to get into work this morning. Apparently it will get worse later. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

It's gusty, but I think the media may have over-hyped this. Ever since Michael Fish messed up so badly in 1987, the Weather people have erred on the side of predicting a disaster because they don't get criticism if it turns out better than they forecast.

There are problems about crying wolf however....

Not so sure it’s been overhyped Goldie. Just starting to pick up here and only managed a couple of miles running. A couple of trees down already and debris all over the place.

Pleased I spent the time yesterday strapping down the kids trampoline

For a moment there, I read it as, glad I spent time strapping the kids to the trampoline :D

Doesn't seem to have affected the West Country too much so far as is being reported. You'd expect debris and the odd tree down in a storm. But the worst since 1990? We'll have to see...

It’s ****ing windy here, lots of debris from trees on the street, and we’re only in an ‘amber’ zone. Lots of pictures of structural damage online. Increasingly pessimistic about trains working well for the match tomorrow.

Getting seriously windy here now.
The media have undoubtedly been over the top as usual, but I think the Met Office have been correctly precautionary.

I’ve been sorely tempted to strap the kids to the trampoline….the little darlings. Just pleased they’ve ****ed off out with the Mrs to do an escape room…..part of me is hoping they won’t be able to escape and get trapped forever…..;)
At least it gives me a morning in peace to watch The Forever Purge.

On your point about the trees…..maybe it shows that more time and money needs to be spent to keep these trees in some kind of order….especially if they can go over so easily…..some big old branches going down out there and could kill an old gal walking

Not sure what can be done about the trees.
What would you suggest?

Pruning and cutting away the obviously dead and decaying ones that seem to be prevalent around here would be a start mate.

Yeah. Not sure there's anything like the recources to carry out surveys of all our trees!
Obviously if a tree is reported as unsafe, it is usually dealt with.

Maybe if there was a cap on expenses claimed for Councillers it may be a start and we would have more resources to pay for stuff like this.
When claims by local Councillers are in excess of £40k a year, with the leader claiming £60k a year is there any wonder there isn’t any money left…..funny the ones making these types of claims, in my area anyway, are Tory.

Maybe then there would be more money to go to doing the things like pavements, trees and potholes.

Nicely turned onto politics.

There is a link I agree.
