Happy belated birthday Sarge! Will you be watching the cricket today? I was at the pub last night with Ed Joyce's brother (who, it turns out, plays for the same club as my dad! Ireland is a tiny, tiny place!), but he wouldn't let anything interesting slip!
Not much Jub, just went to work and had 1 Stella as I had to be in work today. Might go out to the pub with the old man tonight, doubt it somehow though. Cheers peadar. Which Joyce brother was it? As i'm sure i've heard at least 1 of his brothers has played professionally as well I wish mate, i'm at the Council, i've been keeping an eye on the score. Rankin seemed to let it slip near the end. Still a gettable target is 206 with the likes of Porterfield, the O'Brien brothers and Ed Joyce. I'm Irish through my Mother's side, got loads of family in Mallow so I love seeing Ireland do well at anything. Got a good chance here. Bangladesh's strong point is their batting so you've done very well there. Mind you the Cricinfo website says the pitch is a bit of a pudding, so it will be a tough chase. Their bowling isn't so strong though, so if they don't bowl the right lines then Ireland can do it if they apply themselves. Come on Ireland!!!!!
Although it's late, happy birthday Tom. Hopefully the lads can get the regular 3 points vs the Boggies on Monday. You getting up to much over the weekend to celebrate?
Nothing much just watching England v France tomorrow at me Dads with the family. Hopefully Nick, Olwyn and Roisin can come over if Roisin is feeling OK after her jabs today.
Should be a good match, probably be the decider for the 6 Nations. Don't England play India tomorrow?
Yeh I would think so, should be a cracking match No it's Sri Lanka v Pakistan. India v England on Sunday, we'll get well and truly thrashed in that game.
They're both very good matches, or could be if all sides play to their potential. I'll go for a Sri Lanka and an India win. England need to improve immensely if they're to pose anyone problems in this World Cup.
A bit of surprise Pakistan winning, but typical Pakistan I guess, always a dangerous team they are. Just had a curry round me dads, with some relatives and some wine and beer, so feeling a tiny bit tipsy
What an innings by Tendulkar. 98 international 100's for Tendulkar. Such a legend & such a humble one as well
We won't do well today Jub, we're up against the joint hosts and favourites for the tournament. We haven't been that bad today, India are just 100 times better than us.
Eek! Well good luck to England. Is it just a match sorrry I am awful with anything cricket related I know we won the Ashes!
Match was Tied. One of the best Cricket matches you will ever see. At the half way we looked out of it, then we looked like we were romping to victory, then looked like we lost by bottling it, but a flurry at the end forced a tie and 1 point a piece. For people who don't know cricket, tied matches sometimes happen but not very often. Probably a fair result, 1 win and 1 tie and 3 points from our first 2 games.
SGT Watched the game & i think i went through every emotion as is humanly possible. From the sublime tendulkar, to the great bowling by Bresnan @ the end of their innings. Then watching our captain (along with bell ) set us up for a magnificent win, only for bell to get cramp & then watched in amazement how we self destructed. Then we hit 3 sixes & again had a chance to win. Tie a suppose was a fair result, but what an astonishing game. PS then turned over to the Carling Cup Final & laughed my cock off, well done brum
Brezzy was top notch indeed. Sachin was just, well just Sachin, it was a batting masterclass but they don't call him the Little Master for nothing. I was watching the game with my Dad and brother and we were fuming at England. We thought it was all over and when Shahzad came in, and I don't want to brag but I said then to my Dad and brother that Shahzad is good at hitting the ball strongly down the ground, next ball went for six!!! Delighted, as i'm a Yorkshire fan, seeing Brezzy and Shahzad do so well. Great stuff, and one of the best games of cricket I have seen, up there with the 1999 semi between Australia and the Saffers. Great stuff in the football, happy for Brum.
