What I don't get with the ref blowing the whistle there is if Cook had gotten through, he wouldn't have called full time and Cook would have been allowed to press on. But he calls full time after the foul. Which means the best option Stoke has there is to foul, because it brings the game to an end. Foul is rewarded.
