I stand by my view that Slater is great off the bench for this exact reason. He can't seem to match it from the start. But given we've signed Alzate presumably to start Slater is the perfect super sub for one of the CM/AMs.
Oh mate very happy with the win, just would rather not "accept" conceding horrendous chances every game.
If Tim is able to finally settle on and get his best XI on the field each week, then this season might still prove to be a reasonably good one.....I'm not for one moment suggesting a top 6 finish is on the cards, but you never know....Slates and Drameh have to start and if Millar can find the consistency of deliver to someone who can find the onion bag on a regular basis then one never knows. Next week will be a decent pointer.
We’ve had a few pointers, Ashbee was captain and his longevity gave him that right. Can’t recall Philo doing it regularly, but his level of performance would allow him to do so. Millar was doing it in a way to get him off the hook and let the crowd know it was not his fault. It was noticeable a few minutes into his debut, when he was fairly average. At the time I was thinking he has been with us less than a week. It’s not going to endear him to his teammates.
every team needs them, he was great last night and I’m open to having my long term opinion changed, it certainly has with Coyle.
It hasn't quite worked for him this season , I was fully expecting him to be
one of our main players , is it just that he's playing out of position ?
He's got so much ability I hope we can get the best out of him

Hull came from behind to earn their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium. Ben Wilmot put the hosts in front in Narcís Pelach’s first game in charge before three goals in 17 minutes gave Tim Walter his first win as Hull manager.
Kasey Palmer nodded in the equaliser on his first start for the visitors, following up after his penalty had been saved by Viktor Johansson, before the substitute Regan Slater and a Wilmot own goal completed the turnaround.

Walter’s men arrived in Staffordshire without a win to their name, having scored just two goals in their first five league outings. They had the lion’s share of possession in the first half but failed to create any clear-cut opportunities. Mohamed Belloumi fired over twice in the early stages, while Palmer lifted a free kick over the crossbar.
Stoke had started much the brighter side after appointing the former Norwich coach Pelach to replace Steven Schumacher, who was relieved of his duties following 11 wins in 29 league games. Bae Jun-ho fired wide when he was picked out by Million Manhoef inside the area before Lewis Koumas also flashed a shot wide within the first 10 minutes.
Manhoef drew the first save of the evening when Ivor Pandur was forced to push his left-footed effort away from danger. From the resulting corner Wilmot met Bae’s corner and crashed a header past Pandur a year to the day since his last Stoke goal against Huddersfield.
Manhoef missed a golden opportunity to double the lead before half-time after clever movement from Tom Cannon. The Leicester loanee drew a defender away for the Dutchman to have a free run at goal before he scuffed his effort into the advertising hoardings.
Hull were given the opportunity to equalise just past the hour mark when Belloumi was brought down by a clumsy challenge from Eric Bocat. Palmer’s spot kick was brilliantly saved by Johansson, who dived down to his right, but the Swede could do nothing about the follow-up as Palmer headed in his first goal since his deadline day move from Coventry.
Wilmot then played the ball into the path of the substitute Liam Millar and the winger picked out his fellow replacement Slater to lash his effort beyond Johansson. Wilmot’s miserable second half was complete two minutes later when he diverted Palmer’s cross into his own net beyond the despairing Johansson, who was unable to prevent the ball dribbling over the line, to condemn Stoke to a fourth league defeat in five.

I thought there was definitely progress shown last night. While we still gave up some chances playing out from the back we were much more composed and generally played the right pass (particularly as the game went on).
Stoke fans were commenting on how they looked dreadful trying to play out and that we just did it much better with much better movement - their observation not mine.
We still need to look at how we defend in transition as when we lose the ball, because we vacate all the central areas of the pitch - the opposition can just spring into these positions and have extra men in central attacking areas while we recover. If that’s the heart attack element, then I’m afraid it will cost us goals and games in the long run.

They were that sh!te and garbage that if they had used the ball better first half they'd have put the game to bed and we'd be discussing how 'sh!te' we were...
