Are you sure it wasn't just the beer talking, CBK? It wasn't exactly a reasoned argument, your OP. Had that language been about another poster, you would have been banned. There is all the difference in the world between saying Gerard is not a great player and just being insulting. Just a word? Say that word out loud in the street repeatedly and you could find yourself arrested. Or are you going to tell me that *****phile is just a word? I have no time for keyboard warriors.
Wrt Gerrard, he produced some pin-point crosses but made one mistake. This is the second World Cup in a row where we have conceded to a route one goalkeepers punt. That just isn't good enough and what has ultimately cost us.

In the first half he seemed incapable of finding another player in a white shirt too Channon.

    (Gerrard that is, not CBK).

As much as I like the guy, I've never thought of him as being good enough to play for England. The other two mentioned, Delph and Rodwell, are probably more talented. Obviously Rodwell would need to be actually playing for a club first.

No harm in giving him a few friendlies.

Sorry but this is one of the rare times I think you're spouting bullshit. There's no doubt Rodwell would have been a better player than Cork if he had played regularly since leaving Everton but his career has regressed and I highly doubt he is as good now as he was a few years ago. As for Delph, I think Cork is a better player, simple as that.

I don't think Delph can be classified as a "true defensive midfield anchor".

That may be, but I'd have Cork over Delph in that position.

You've clearly never lived in Thornhill.

We are all keyboard warriors. Embrace your inner child. Ahhh, then again, better not.

Gerrard did not make one mistake, he made two mistakes. He lost possession for the first goal too. Two mistakes, two goals, lost game. Did you see Gerrard rousing his teammates or doing anything to warrant being a Captain? When England got the goal back, we had Uruguay on the ropes for 10 minutes and then we slowed the game down again... well, Gerrard, specifically, slowed the game down again.

Even in the cold light of day, his performance was as bad as I've seen in an England shirt.

The point about Gerrard slowing the game down last night just at the wrong time is spot on.

And he did the same thing he did in the game against Chelsea at the end of the season when they were chasing the game - he felt it had to be him playing the important ball and ended up giving the ball away time and time again. Trouble with the media they are haloed by him they just pick out the one or two great passes and everything else is forgiven. He has been mediocre for a couple of years.

Gerard appears to have left all of his ability at heathrow. Shocking in both games, as 99% of people knew, Henderson and gerrard as a two in the centre of the park was never going to be enough.

Its funny how England fans are picking on Gerrard now after a few bad games. Its a constant cycle with most England fans, moan moan moan. Treat them like saints.

STOP THE AGENDAS AGAINST ENGLISH PLAYERS.

What a ridiculous thing to write.

Do you want us to stop giving our opinion about football players on a football forum then?

We should call a truce, they pull the plug on all those cringe worthy adverts & we'll stop criticising them. <laugh>

Hey, fair enough. Jack is so overlooked. Why not..? We're not asking Jack to be the Gerard of yesteryear, but the Gerard of now. And yes, he could fulfil that role.
Of course it would be better if Victor or Morgan were at his side.

Hmm, I see a possible problem with that scenario. :)
