You want to see us increase our dept by spending 2 mill on Sidwell. Our business is done in the market.
Check out the Muntari thread again; plenty of people were dismissing him. Go back and read my original post again. I didn't say I'd sign Sidwell. All I said was that I couldn't believe how many decent players were being dismissed as **** by people on here.
As Polly said, he's probably the same level as what we currently have. There's no real point in getting him. But if we did he would add squad depth, which we do lack in the central midfield. In my opinion.
I'd be a little confused if he was a replacement for Koren, considering Sidwell is 31. Though he does have Prem experience and certainly has a better work rate than Koren. He'd be a good addition to the squad, but I wouldn't have him replace Koren. Two different types of player. I'd expect someone below 30 to be brought in to replace Koren. **** knows who though.
I wasn't necessarily suggesting it as a like-for-like, just in terms of standard/quality and - as you said - adding to overall squad depth. However, I probably wouldn't want to sign him, but to repeat my original point, my concern was that a few folk on here are getting a bit sniffy about things.
Sidwell has bagged 5 goals this season though - more than anybody else in our squad. Probably a factor in why we may be interested - add goals to our game while removing them from a rival.
The point is that the club don't have a big enough quality squad. They don't have to just sign players who will push somebody else out of the team but they should be getting players who can provide cover. The perfect acquisition policy is to get players who are better than what we have got but that costs more money.
Can't. We've used up our ginger allocation. Any more and we'll have to cancel our pre-season warm weather training for health reasons.
