Brucie may have got us promoted but any half decent manager would have done the same with the players at there disposal. And I have been to enough home and especially away games to see that although Steve Bruce achieved admirable positions in the premier league with Wigan and Birmingham, his management style has stayed in the dark ages and not progressed with the modern game. We also wouldn't have had to achieve promotion this season if it wasn't for his negative Premier league tactics which resulted in relegation with the most expensive bunch of players we have ever put together. Give me a Gary Monk, Tim Sherwood or Chris Hughton type of manager any day and although we may flirt with relegation, we will be a vastly better team to watch because I for one cannot spend another season travelling to away games to watch us be the most negative awful team to watch!

It was SB that got that squad through the front door. His name and standing got a fair few to sign. He wanted to add other players that took other clubs up, but we couldn't afford them at the time.

Monk and Sherwood were both sacked.

Also, it's simplistic to blame his style for failing to get promotion. We were two wins off it, with a record points total. I can't see the validity of some arguments, although I agree that sometimes a change works, and sometimes it is just a Dowie moment.

Armchair experts are always right, though, and we should employ most of this board who would undoubtedly do better. Like the ones who asked for Diame to be dropped as he was useless.
Managers take the risks, pundits get to second guess.

It's one thing getting the squad through the door but you have to get that squad you assemble playing football, that is sadly something he couldn't do last season in the premier league. I just feel that a change is needed or we may well find ourselves in the same position at the end of next season and relegated. A new manager doesn't guarantee anything but new ideas and more importantly a new style of football is needed desperately.

I'm not sure we are that far off, and not sure new ideas would make a damn bit of difference.

We will always struggle to attract players, and have to be realistic at how we deal with that.

New ownership is the issue, as it's the fans that are the problem at the moment (lack of support). I'm not blaming the fans, but it's the atmosphere that is strangling us, not the manager.

And when he announces his decision, his elaboration will give some clarity on where things are going...

Hopefully.

OLM this is one of the ones that seem similar to other posters like Chezzy Ben pointed out, like I said not bothered by multi-accounters or whatever

Like?

Maybe someone with a similar option to me? To think someone may agree with me. How silly.

Bothered enough to say it, but wimp enough to hide from explaining it.

Well done. Look forward to more blather! You should work for the clubs media department?

What - you mean the players that Steve Bruce himself assembled with the support of the Allams money?

Bojack, you've already been told there's no multi accounters at the moment, give the **** up.
Yeah I forgot about it really, fairly ironic that this post cropped up the page after on the same thread. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't who cares
