Fletcher is **** now. But not the worst in the squad.
We have a manager who appears reluctant to play him sadly. He persists with **** like Fletcher. The lad should be on the bench at least every game and coming on. He won't do wonders but he is BETTER than the people being brought on before him.Sunderland and Hull City have one very bad thing in common and that is the fact that we attract players who aren't strikers arseholes!
We have both had Altidore - 42 appearances for Sunderland for 1 goal and 28 for Hull for 1 goal.
We have both had Danny Graham - 26 appearances for Sunderland for 1 goal and 18 appearances at Hull for 1 goal.
That's 114 appearances for a total of 4 goals - and they call themselves "Strikers"!
Sunderland have fared a little better with Fletcher (79 - 20) and Wickham (74 - 11) whereas at Hull the big "German Donkey" Nick Proschwitz managed 3 from 29 appearances and Yannick Sagbo 2 from 32 appearances.
Hull lashed out 10 million quid for Abel Hernandez which worked out at 2 and a half million each for the 4 goals he scored in the Premier League.
I think we are both due for a change of luck when it comes to signing a decent striker.
I like young Watmore from what I've seen of him and he could be a decent work in progress.
Ojo & Nordic - can I just clarify the situation please, as I followed the story all summer? Nordic is right to say that Celtic pulled out early in July because "He's on EPL wages, and we just can't compete with that." But the report Ojo quotes was on BBC Scotland. Apparently, Celtic came back on the last day of the window and offered to take Flatcher on a season long loan and pick up part of his wages. Flatcher was willing to go - well, wouldn't you like playing for a Glasgow support on EPL wages? But SAFC knocked it back, presumably on the grounds that we couldn't afford to subsidize another club.
Hope that's o.k.?![]()
too right, i'd say. too many times in the oast we've subsidised other players and clubs. that's the easy way out. he needs to earn himself another contract or he can rot.
I did of course make the deliberate mistake which nobody picked up on (so no sets of Steak Knives for anyone) in that both Sunderland and Hull City have had Steve Bruce as Manager but to be fair I don't know which of those who are not 'strikers arseholes' he was responsible for signing.
I wouldn't for a second assume that no one picked it up mate
honestly watching him play for Scotland and he must be one of the luckiest people to play football ever.
He scraped into the premier league, scored a few goals. he managed to be not good enough to keep 2 teams up.
Martin o'neil comes along and pays almost twice what he's worth getting him a bumper signing on fee and massively lucrative contract.
He has gone on to be ****ing garbage for Sunderland. Started brightly but he gets worse with every game. It doesn't seem to matter how badly he plays though as he continues to get first team football be it from the bench or starting.
Adding to that the fact that he's managed to score about 3 goals in 3 seasons he is lucky enough to play for a **** footballing nation and despite his dismal club for he keeps getting picked for the national team on no basis whatsoever.
I'll be delighted when this absolute waste of space get's a massive pay cut next season and drifts off into obscurity.
He has done nothing in football to justify his premiership status as a footballer, his huge wages or his international career.
As you may be able to tell, I'm not keen on him.
The only thing I disagree with here is that his earnings will reduce
He is going to become a free agent at the point that the prem becomes dirty rich. More chance of his earnings increasing.
No justice
Can't see him playing for another PL team mate.

ps i don't mean another contract with us!

Slight difference of opinion, he's playing at the top level because he got double figures 4 years running. He's been hampered by injuries and being a **** team in constant upheaval. He'd still score goals for fun in a decent team.
He's got more ability in his left nut than wickham and graham have in there entire bodies.
Bruce replaced bent and Gyan with Wickham and Ji. Then flooded the squad with average squad players. Along with Quinn backing his transfer policy complete devolved a good squad he built. Since then we've struggled with the wage bill but the money that has been made available since Bruce has also been badly spent. Bruce triggered our spiral but plenty have help it get worse. Just had a really good window, best we've had for many many a season with some real classy additions so I expect us to improve quite a lot. We're scoring goals now, if we can tighten up at the back without sacrificing going forward we should be ok.
How you guys getting on with Brucie?
