Steve Bruce has freed up some money for a late transfer push after agreeing to sell Steed Malbranque to St Etienne.
The French club has offered to take Malbranque off Bruce’s hands - and that means the Bruce may now be able to force through a loan deal for Manchester City’s Adam Johnson although Everton are also interested.
