He seemed heavier than he looked before signing for us, especially around the middle. Most players, like Davies, Trippier, HK, etc. tend to look fitter for working with Mauricio Pochettino. MP said, in a press conference, that he wasn't putting in enough during training and those 2 things are likely to be linked.

There's a story of him being seen buying kebab and chips when he wasn't getting game time. If that's true, nobody's likely to be impressed. MP says players are paid to train. Woe betide any player who isn't doing that. It's the only thing that I can see to make him a non-person at the club.

 

I think that I mentioned his weight when he returned from injury and featured for the U23s recently.
He seems considerably lighter, so perhaps what changed?
Having said that, if we didn't want him eating kebabs, then why the **** did we send him to Turkey?

 

Maybe the penny's dropped. I can only hope so for everyone's benefit...except Turkey's kebab shops.

After commenting about Eyoma and Tanganga on the Transfer Thread, it somehow reminded me of the post I made on this one, typically had to manually search for it as my search function is drunk but it's funny to see what my views were over two and a half years ago on our academy prospects. Feel like some I got spot on and some I should best leave forgotten! Lol.

I'll come back to this again in about two years and see where my next batch of assessments/ predictions go:

Maksim Paskotsi - a player we got to see in pre-season playing out of position and impressing. Paskotsi joined us having already played senior football in Estonia, he recent won the Balctic Cup with the senior national side and I think we could possibly see him make his competitive debut in the ECL this season. If not a loan may be on the cards. Someone to definitely keep an eye on.

Marcel Lavinier - only joined us last season from Chelsea and he made his debut in Europa as a sub. Very much a natural FB. May get a loan at some point this season.

The Craig Brothers - two combative midfielders comfortable filling in deeper roles, I'd say Matthew is slightly ahead of Michael but it's open to debate. Solid players at U23 level, if I'm honest I'm not sure if they'll ever feature for the first team but could make it in the Football League.

Brooklyn Lyons-Foster - versatile CB who can comfortably fill in at either FB position. I think he's definitely someone who could do with a loan, I feel if he's to make it at the top though he needs to fill out a bit more, quite lanky at the moment and you wouldn't fancy him up against a Deeney type striker.

Kallum Cesay - versatile player capable of playing at RB, LB and in midfield. Featured in pre-season for us. Not someone I expect to make an impact in the first team but you never know.

Nile John - someone who's already becoming known by fans, impressed in pre-season and made his debut in the Europa last season. Someone I think we'll see more of this season too, likely featuring in a few of our ECL games providing we get past Pacos in the qualifier.

Harvey White - a set piece specialist and someone who'll either play a few games in the ECL or go out on loan again, ideally to League One or above.

Alfie Devine - one of our best prospects, some may argue the best, only signed last season from Wigan and became the club's youngest ever scorer when he netted against Marine in the FA Cup. He's a star in the making in my opinion, got everything; vision, technique, aggression, a real all rounder and barring any injuries or unforeseen events, will almost certainly become a first team starter when the time is right.

Jamie Bowden - currently on loan at Oldham, Bowden's defensive midfielder who's comfortable on the ball. Do I think he'll make it as a first team player? No but I think he can carve a decent career for himself.

J'Neil Bennett - scorer of the first goal at the new stadium when the U18s won 3-1, so he'll forever be in Spurs history. A good, tricky wing forward who's got goals in his locker. Think a loan move should be on the cards this season. Hard to say if he'll make it here due our wide positions being stocked but definitely someone to keep and eye on.

Dilan Markanday - someone who I'm surprised hasn't played for the first team yet, often been impressed whenever I've seen him. Like Bennett, he's a tricky winger who gets fans out of their seats and if he doesn't feature in the ECL then I think he too should get a loan.

Roshaun Mathurin - skilful winger who scored an impressive hattrick last season against Chelsea academy. Too early to judge how far I think he can make it but I think he'll make a few U21 appearances this season, especially if one or both of Markanday and Bennett go out on loan.

Dane Scarlett - the star boy of the academy at present and competing with Devine for "best prospect". It's wrong to put too much pressure on him but it's safe to say fans are rightfully very excited about his potential and I think we'll likely be seeing a decent bit of him this season in the ECL and domestics, don't think he'll be loaned out, not until January anyway.

Kion Etete - currently on loan at Northampton and bagged a brace on his debut. A tall and strong striker who you'd happily partner in a front two alongside a more mobile striker (think Crouchy and Defoe). Not sure if he'll make it here long term but I also wouldn't completely rule it out, despite the fact Scarlett and Parrott are ahead of him in youth pecking order.

Younger prospects I haven't seen much of but hopefully will in the future:

Luca Gunter - England youth international keeper. We've got a lot of keepers on the books from the U23s down to the academy and Gunter is meant to be very highly rated, arguably the highest rated of the lot despite being the youngest. Although not any time soon due to his age but it'll be great if we could produce a first choice keeper from the academy.

Alfie Dorrington - very, very highly rated CB, former England U15 captain who was signed to a three year deal by the club, beating off a lot of other clubs. Very local too having been born in Edmonton.

Tom Bloxham - attacking midfielder who went semi-viral on Spurs twitter after scoring a worldie for the youths.

Jamie Donley - already featured and scored for the U18s last season and started this one in fine form bagging a goal and assist on matchday one. Very highly rated by Lilywhite Rose and is a youth international that's featured for both England and Northern Ireland. We seem to have a conveyor belt of promising strikers at the moment. When we used to sing "We all want a team of Harry Kane's" in Europa games a few years back, I didn't think it'd possibly come true

 

Not a lot wrong there and spot on with Skippy and Tanganga

 

Alfie’s already captaining our U18s today at 16 years old. Obviously too early to tell but he’s someone I think a lot of us can potentially have high hopes for.

Wouldn't read too much into it, was a very young and inexperienced side and we went down to 10 man too. Had no Scarlett, Devine or Paskotsi either. Different game if those three played.
