Delighted with the win. I love this competition, we've had three tremendous nights already this season, Hearts & PAOK away and now this.
Many more great nights before as well, going all the way back to 1972. How people don't rate or disrespect the EL/UEFA trophy is beyond me.
Well done Spurs, well done Shamrock, another great evening of football down the Lane and a real credit to the gamel, as Spurs so often have been on their 50 year European adventure.

Useful run out for some players returning from injury, some squad players and some youth players, while still getting a win.
I'd be very happy to win this competition and it's also a very handy way to keep some players sharp and give the kids some experience of first team football.
Credit to Shamrock for making a game of it, especially their back-up keeper.

Loving the positivity but the EL now is nothing like what the UEFA cup was prior to 3-4 teams from each league being in the CL. Still, I'd much rather be in Europe than not though and will definitely go to the Rubin kazan game.
Pleased with the win, but Rubin Kazan will be a very tough game for the B team as its been labelled. I think they beat Barcelona in the Nou Camp a couple of years ago!

I've just checked the state of the Russian Premier League to see where Rubin are in their season and it's an odd situation.
They're transitioning from a summer season to the more familiar autumn-winter-spring one that most European teams have.
That means that despite only really having 5 games left in this season, if it were an normal one, they have to play another 16 after that, in an extended format to manage the change over.
Strange.
Hopefully they'll be paying more attention to their league than this tournament, as we are, so we could face a bit of a mixed side.
It looks possible that we'll have some players back from injury soon too, so the likes of Dawson, Gallas, Kranjcar and Pienaar could add to our second string.
With Dos Santos, Lennon and Rose getting more match time and regaining some sharpness, we should be able to give them a decent game.

While the EL lacks some of the status of the old UEFA cup, I still love it as a competition. Unlike the old UEFA Cup, you get to see practically all th games on TV these days, which is a massive plus for me. You get to feel the atmosphere of PAOK, Hearts and Shamrock, even if you're not at the game.
We put in one of our all-time great performances to draw 1-1 with Milan to make the final in 72, could we see it on TV, no. All we got was 30 seconds on Saint & Greavesie/Football Focus. Scandalous, but that's what it was like in the 70s. I was at the home leg, where we won 2-1, tremendous, was it live on TV, no.
Many of our great UEFA nights got scant coverage, and very few were covered live. I was fortunate to be at the Hoddle master class v Feyenoord, but was that shown live, no. At least there were highlights of that one.
I'm loving the EL this time round, looking forward to the next game already.
