On closer inspection it seems they haven't introduced it. Schteffen's going crazy and getting angry about stories he's made up again :(

Gives an idea of the team, seems Rose might make it, which will be a great boost. Although yesterday's official team news ruled him out, so hard to call.

Gomes/Carlo

Corluka
Gallas
Bassong
Rose

Pienaar
Livermore
Carroll
Townsend

Kane

Defoe

seems to be Harry's thinking ATM.

As I said earlier in the thread to a suggestion that Carroll might start but not Livermore

'I think Livermore is a certainty to start, he's a better player than Carroll ATM, that's for sure.

Carroll doesn't get anywhere near the first team squad, Jake is a regular, and played well when he came on v WBA.'

Harry's comments confirm this, Livermore is straight in, but Carroll is a maybe.

Our only other Greek opponents were beaten 4-1 on aggregate by us back in 72. I was almost certainly there for the home leg, but can't remember the match. I remember we were holders and made the semi-final, narrowly losing away to Liverpool and drawing at home, I definitiely recall being there for that game :(

It was a time when English clubs dominated the competition. We won the tournament six times in row, an incredible run only ended when we lost the final in 74 to Feyenoord, a defeat I was there to witness as well :(

POAK's only other English opponents have been Arsenal, whom they beat 2-1 on aggregate in 97, Bergkamp and all! Bet they were two lively nights !!

The atmosphere in Salonika in our away game was phenomenal, just from TV you coud pick up how brilliant it was from the Greek fans.

They will be very lively again, putting it mildly, and I hope the Spurs fans can sufficiently stir themselves not to be completely outsung and drowned under Greek support. I'll be giving it plenty as always, and hope we can win on the pitch and at least not be embarrassed off it.

More importantly than nosie levels though, I hope there's no trouble as clearly there will be many a Greek on the 'Trojan terraces', who needs a wooden horse when you've got airplanes, trains and tinterweb :)

Livermore and Carroll and different styles of player, though.
It's like comparing Parker with Modric.

That wasn't my main issue PNP. The issue was that HBIC put Carroll in the team and not Livermore, which as I said wasn't going to happen.

How is it obvious or patronising?
I'm sure that most people haven't seen much of Carroll, especially if they haven't watched all of our Europa League games.
You're being over-sensitive.

If one of our other holding players is picked, Sandro for instance, then the team would probably be better balanced out by picking Carroll, despite Livermore being further along and more experienced.

Well I edited my post as I didn't want to be confrontational, but at least you know how I feel now.

Of course it's patronising to me, a Spurs fan of over 50 years, who has watched ALL our EL games this season, and indeed has only missed the Stoke game so far this year.

The team would not be better balanced by picking Caroll alongside Sandro, Livermore would be the better pick, and it was quite obvious to me that Livermore would play this game, as I correctly stated.

You're a good man PNP I'm sure, but TBH I find your posts towards me difficult at times. Though, I am over-sensitive for sure, I'd accept that :)

Phew. It would be a sad day if they started seeding the FA Cup. Surely its lack of seeding is the main thing that makes it special.

Anyway - panic and letters to The Times from Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells can all be put on hold for now...

How am I'm supposed to know any of this?

I disagree.
Having a playmaker alongside a holding player is a more balanced fit, in my opinion.

Isn't that the whole point of this kind of forum?
If we all agreed, then there'd be no debate.

Fair enough, we agree to disagree <ok>

I'm off to the game soon, hoping we at least get the draw that keeps us in the competition.

Ensil, if that is the team then we have plenty of pace and with Luka in the middle plenty of craft.
With defenders playing their normal positions- except for Rose still not sure if he a lb- looks a very strong line up.
But peed off they are not showing it here, have to wait for highlights later.
COYS

Gomes;
Corluka, Bassong, Gallas, Rose;
Lennon, Livermore, Modric, Pienaar;
Defoe, Kane

Cudicini, Fredericks, Walker, Bale, Carroll, Falque, Townsend.

From the OS

My first thought is hoping Gallas doesn't limp off again, given the lack of centre backs on the bench - Corluka would have to move inside for Walker, or an out of position Fredericks/Townsend, to play right back.

PBH surely the fact the Harry has named this line up indicates he doesn't want to be going to Shamrock needing a win.
Shamrock will be up for it and cause some problems.

Wish the PAOK fans would shut up. I'm trying to watch the game.
