Poch certainly had injury issues: Kane, Dembele, Lamela and Rose all had significant stints on the sidelines throughout his time

Lamela was injury prone when we signed him.

Dembele had probably the most physically demanding role in the whole PL.

Kane was overplayed partly because he insisted on it but also because we never had proper cover for him.

Rose I'll give you.

There were a few marginals calls as well: Hugo, Vertonghen, Tripper and Davies had a few spells on the sidelines (though this might be Mandela Effected)

So Odobert out for the season. We're really struggling now. Have to rely on Tel and Kolo Muani. No pace really up front. Do we know when Kudus might be back. Will Kulusevski and or Maddison play at all this season?

I’ve seen a few people on social media who are starting to wonder whether the injury issues (especially the knee related ones) could be something to do with the retractable pitch. Does that theory have any legs?….

Maddison and Kulusevski aren't going to feature this season. There are worries that the latter won't play again, which is a huge shame.

Kudus reportedly set to return late March.

Not that it helps much but Richarlison is supposed to be a few weeks from returning.

The argument that we're overplaying players is nonsense imo.
I think that a number of our injuries this season are down to this.
Richarlison, Kudus and Porro, all of which were ridiculous, as we had cover for their positions.
Frank using Spence as a winger when he was already covering both fullback roles was insane.

Other injuries, like Danso and Davies, were just unfortunate.

I’ve always wondered this but I’m sure the experts for these retractable surfaces have done plenty of research so I’ll continue to wonder rather than plant my flag on either sides!

That's shocking if true of Kulusevski. On Maddison I keep seeing him in training, sometimes with a ball. Surely from there to fitness can't be 4 months?

It isn't backed by any real evidence though.

As I said, plenty of other teams are playing as many if not more games than us and their players seem fine.

A quick glance at Transfermarkt confirms this:

Of the 100 PL players who have played the most minutes this season, our only outfield players are Micky and Porro, and neither of them are in the top 25.

Isn't that PL minutes?

Different players have to be treated differently, anyway.
Some are machines that just run forever, but most aren't.
You could see Porro's inevitable injury coming, as a lot of people called it.

It is.

I can't find all competitions combined.

But it's certainly a useful yardstick.

We went out of both domestic cups pretty early and even with Europe simply haven't played as many games as plenty of other teams.

Tudor has said that Porro and Danso will 'probably' be back next weekend.

We've missed the Austrian imo. Today exposed Dragusin and Palhinha quite brutally.

I was wondering when this would migrate over here

So quick question: why didn't we have injury crises under Poch, the ubermensch or Conte playing on this exact same pitch?
Why did Ange's teams have a similar pattern of injuries in spite none of those other teams playing on retractable pitches?
Why is everybody forgetting the injury crisis of 1996-7 that was arguable worse, given we were at WHL yet playing half the number of games?
Most of all, why do people ignore the amount of our injuries that took place at away matches, on the training pitch, or were clear impact injuries which the pitch had nothing to do with?

The issue has been that both Ange and Frank were bad at rotating the squad, so players like Porro or Kudus played every game until they couldn't, which was further exacerbated by our players having less protection from officials than a Mormon orgy

Poch was arguably much worse at rotation but it seems we were spared frequently occuring injuries as a result, although at the the same time certain players (Rose, Dembele, there's an argument to be made about Eriksen and Dier too) simply broke down much younger than many of their contemporaries.

In the case of Poch's team it's noticeable the players rotated less (Kane, Dembele, Eriksen) picked up more injuries

Lamela excepted, of course
