I see preparatory work has started on their new ground:

Cant help but think the stadium is a bit identikit. As impressive as it is it still looks like another 20 stadia across Europe and beyond. But then again, how different can you make a new stadium look?

How many 60k+ stadia will London have now - Wembley, Twickenham, West Ham (has it got a name?!?) Emirates, Spurs, the new Chelsea ground when done? Any more?

Can't believe they're stupid enough to start tearing down a building that's still in use!
Also pretty sure work had begun on a development next to the stadium on our last visit.
Was lead to believe it was to be new Spurs ground.

Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford did it I believe, so it's nothing new.

It's a massive development, they're building apartments and a hotel, some of it started a while back.

Ah, I see now. Still can't see the logic in knocking the stadium you're using down! Sure brighter minds than mine have figured it out.

I'm pretty sure it's so the can start work on the new one with the least amount of disruption possible.
Like you say, they will have worked this out...

It does. When is it due to open? Is it one of those cases where they play the first few matches away from home?

It's running late, they've got test events planned for August, but don't expect to be able to play home games until September, so they'll probably have to play the first few home games at Wembley.

They can't play their first few games at Wembley, they will all have to be away games. Under Premier League rules you cannot play homes games in more than one ground in any given season. Seems effing stupid but dems da rulz.
