Believe it or not my Mrs actually bought hers in Manchester (used to be Rushholme but now there's a shop in Trafford Centre) and brings them here. Says there are much better designs and better quality.

That's where we are going, Trafford Centre lol. Will go to Rusholme, Wilmslow Road to break our Fasts.

That's a point. It's been recommended before. Oldham Road takes me straight there. Save some pesa, certain shops?

Never been myself but know plenty of guys who have

Depends what you want and how much you buy. Hard to tell some of the stuff is fake tbh

All the EA7 tracksuits around Bradford are from there IMO

Yeah. Chips is the perfect side to a good curry.

We did a chicken and veg thing today. Marinaded chicken thighs over veg baked in oven. With...

Yorkshire pudding

Integrated like a mofo lol
Ah man Yorkshire pudding is just too nice!

Had Sausage and Mash the other day for iftar, just too good...

I can never do Chips with Curry/Curry sauce chavvy mate...Chips has to be eaten the way its meant to be, I mean the proper chips not these fake French fries as chips they sell these days!! I have a proper fish and chips shop near me its so damn good but expensive though and it does PROPER Chips!

Why are fish and chip shops so much better up North?
Has anyone ever noticed this?
In Milton Keynes, the chippies are "Meh", but when I have to go away on business to Stoke, York or Newcastle (which i do sometimes) I always make sure I visit a chippie, because they seem to be soooo much better up North...strange!

Have you guys completed the Hajj? If so, what was that like. Just the sheer number of people would freak me out.
Not been to Hajj yet hopefully in the next couple of years.

I have been to Umrah (lesser Hajj) several times with family, amazing experience and I believe it actually strengthens your belief even more. The human kindness exists everywhere but I noticed it there more in those times, the people I found the most amazing is the Indonesians, they are just so calm, cool and helpful no aggressiveness at all from those people, whereas you notice from others a little of it at least not them...some experiences are hard to explain I guess as well..

Makkah: is just a busy place with Kaaba but amazing experience with time to reflect

Madina: is the polar opposite, really serene place peaceful no rush at all and plenty of time to reflect...

Before I went to Umrah, I was even contemplating moving out there actually, one of my close friend is an Saudi and was going to sort everything out as his dads very influential but at the time my dad passed away and then one thing after another never moved....maybe one day but if I did, it would have to be Madina peaceful and Makkah easily accessible too..

Shop-bought Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) with Prawns and Chicken this morning followed by fruit. Mangoes are just coming into season here so those go down really well. By the way whoever was talking about salt with fruit - its fairly typical here as well. They also like unripe fruit with a sour spicy peanut sauce. The dish is called Rujak. Mrs makes it in the UK when we are there and sends me out to find unripe mangoes - Sainsbury's generally the best.

Looks like Lebaran (Eid) here will start Sunday morning so only 5 more days to go. Government has declared a holiday starting Friday this week through to Friday next week so there will be some serious celebrating going on.

Can tell its getting close to Lebaran as the house is full of packages (sarong/sari, biscuits, juice/syrup etc) for all the office employees and staple food packages for the needy in the area. Spent Sunday afternoon at a charity for children with only one parent that we help out through the year, giving them all a food treat (Wendy's Chicken and Rice) and some money for each of the kids to buy themselves Lebaran treats. There is so much poverty here and it doesn't take much to make to make a big difference in their lives.
That's sounds really great....

You get all that time off for Eid! I am moving....:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Lard. I think chippies up north cook in Lard - so tastier but shortening your life.

Went on Umroh (its like a mini Haj) last December and just an incredible experience. Lot quieter than the Haj but still plenty of people at the main mosque in Makkah. Bit like going into the biggest football ground you will ever go to. Entrances closed half an hour before kick-off due to overcrowding. Performing the Tawaf (circling the Kabbah 7 times) was interesting as it can get very crowded but they beam a live feed on the TV into your hotel room so you can spot when its a bit quieter.

For the number of people there it seems to go amazingly smoothly although you quickly work out the nationalities that are likely to cause problems (Turks and Nigerians tend to be a bit pushy).
Mate everyone does that thinking it will be free looking in the TV and rushing over...we went with out eldest when he was around 15months old, amazing experience and he just got on with it no hassle or crying stuff, spent most of our time in the mosque and probably spent around 4-5 hours at most in the hotel...

Got to give the police credit there though, they manage it so well without any force or anything and polite.
