There are always going to be exceptions to virtually anything that you can claim, but Man City fans don't seem bothered about where their owners get their money from.
There's been no public outcry, no alternative team formed, no supporter's group attacking them in the media and nobody ringing the phone-ins, as far as I'm aware.
I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem that I am.

Man Utd were a well run club, prior to the buy-out by the Glazers and they seem to be more of a hindrance than an advantage.

Abramovich has actually admitted to paying out billions in bribes for political favours and protection fees, in court.

Your victories are hollow to anyone with a sense of fair play.
You have bought success with money that your club hasn't generated and your owner could have done the same thing with virtually any club in the country.

My 'motivations' here were a reply to one of your fellow fans posting on the Spurs board repeatedly and off-topic and a reply to an Arsenal fan, who mentioned the wages of the clubs competing for the top 4 spots.
This seemed to upset you, for some reason, which tells it's own story, frankly.

As for United, just because they where a wealthy club before the Glazers that means that any future owners can do what they like? Where ever Romans money came from it is his own money that he is investing in Chelsea and we are not massively in debt. Pretty much every United fan I know is dismayed at the running of their club, perhaps I should point them your way as you can reassure them?

As I said you can bleat on about hollow victories as much as you like. Chelsea's name is now on the Premiership trophy three times and something I never thought I would see in my life time. In years to come when people look at the history books it will simply say that Chelsea won and Spurs didn't. Get over it.

I get fed up with fans that go on other teams boards having a pop. Your first post on this thread was to accuse Chelsea of tapping up Modric, again without a shred of evidence. See that's what annoys me. No one knows that Chelsea has tapped up Modric and you certainly don't. It's people making statements accusing clubs of something that they can't verify that's annoying. You could accuse Chelsea of unsettling the player by making the bid public, which I would hold my hands up to as the evidence is there and you could accuse us of tapping players up in the past as with Ashley Cole, again the evidence is there. To then accuse Chelsea of tapping up every single player they are interested is what a WUM will do. I am hoping that things have changed since Kenyon left.

We made a £22 million bid as a starting bid. I know you don't like to talk business but that's how it works, you start low. I negotiate business deals all the time for a living and the aim is to pay the least you can get away with. If you only want to pay 25-30 you start the bidding at a lower value. The 'he's not for sale at any price' statement is a hollow one, Rooney, Berbatov et al have all had the same comments about them made only to be sold later. Chelsea obviously let the bid become public so that Modric knew about the bid and I suppose Chelsea hoped he would then try and put pressure on Levy for a move that he hasn't done. Fair play to him he seems like a nice lad and it remains to be seen what happens, but United seem to be making noises about signing him and they could well be talking to the press to let him know of their interest to unsettle him further.

So in short, I will debate anything with you that you can back up, but the Modric tapping up is just a hollow accusation until you have evidence.

Unfortunately posters on here fall into to distinct groups. Those that only go on their own boards most of the time to talk about their own clubs and those want to go on other boards to talk about other clubs and to goad them. Which one are you? The latter.

The history books will also account for who your owner was when you won those trophies and how you won them.

It's hardly a massive leap of logic to go from accepting that Chelsea leaked a bid and have tapped up and been accused of tapping up numerous players in the past, to suggest that they probably tapped up Modric, is it?
There were similar accusations over the Torres deal and it's something that you'll have to deal with, as your club have developed a reputation for conducting themselves in that manner.
It's not an unjustified reputation, either.

The £22m bid was ludicrous, if it was supposed to be serious.
Putting in an offer that's lower than you'd expect to have to pay is standard practice, but an unusually low bid can actually be counter-productive and drive any eventual price upwards.
It wasn't even a starting bid and was fairly obviously part of an attempt to unsettle the player, as you've admitted.

There is evidence that Modric was tapped up.
The low bid is evidence.
The leak of that bid is evidence.
Modric's comments are evidence.
Chelsea's history of acting in that manner is evidence.
None of it is proof, but all of it is evidence.

The vast majority of my posts are on the Spurs board and I've only posted on a handful of articles on others' boards, all of which have been taken in good faith, bar this one.
I commented on the suggestions of Gyan, Defoe and Crouch moving between Spurs and Sunderland on the Mackems board, for example, and was welcomed and invited to post more often.
I only posted here because of one of your fellow fans persistent presence on the Spurs board, which you don't seem to be able to understand, for some reason.
You've merely been upset because I posted the wage bills of the top 7 clubs in the league in response to something that an Arsenal fan said.

Actually your wrong on that point I have read that Piskie's post and it is not an apology but an olive branch in an attempt to stop the bitter wrangling between you. As a moderator Piskie is showing maturity and common sense as its clear this cannot go on. We all want to talk about football without getting involved with personal insults and bitter wrangling which will not look good to any new members looking in or thinking of joining.

In the interests of fair play I think its fair to say that there is no more to be said on the subject and I'm going to close the thread. SW6 will look over this and if he feels it is o.k. to continue then thats fine by me the cooling off will be a good thing.
