Springwatch is really great viewing, we are blessed with an abundance of wildlife in the UK and most people either don't know or care about it. Even watching that stickleback the other year was mesmerising stuff. Got to be the best nature show in the world.
 
I have been watching these for some years now although not all agree with the project, mainly pigeon owners.

Great to see them when they are laid and grow up and finally fledge. This is the link to the Norwich cam with sound. The chicks are aprox 1 month old all four are doing well. but the mother left, so father has been feeding them for the last two weeks. There are also cams at Bath and Bournemouth

They had Peregrines at Beverley Minster last year and of course there were some miserable moaning bastards complaining about it, will try and find a link. Fantastic birds that should be cherished and admired.

There are some in Hull too. I was talking to someone that had been made aware of them, and he was keen to keep an eye out for them. After a few weeks, I bumped into him again, and he said he'd only managed to see the one.

He was keeping an eye out for a pair of green falcons. **** knows what it was he saw.

I heard that too. Apparentley a whole flock of them screetched very loudly for a while not realising the threat of the tiger keeping itself quiet in the shadows, then in a flash the owls were all gone. Just a dusting of feathers and silence. The tiger victorious, then quietly walked away licking its lips. Another easy kill.

My guess is those tower blocks down Anlaby Road for the Peregrines and maybe even the KC as I've seen a Falcon sat near the floodlights during a match last season but unfortunately I'm not as good as some as identifying them unless close up or they are flying

I have it on good authority from a scrawny owl, that the flock of Owls (actually i think the term is a 'murder of owls') didn't actually disappear, they were there long after the Pride of Tigers departed. Well thats what scrawny said anyway... <laugh><laugh><laugh>
 
Saw a Red woodpecker this morning at around 8.50am on Adelaide Street. They proper screech Eh! as they take flight. pretty rare sight.

The collective noun for owls is a "parliament", it's a "murder" of rooks.

Spring watch ace??? Na, just a superficial and patronising substitute for engagement with nature for those who require a comfy seat and a g&t while they do it.

Strange that mink should be reviled for being vicious while peregrines admired as magnificent hunters. It's anthropomorphism gone mad!

There's no such bird. I think you mean a green woodpecker. Their call, and sometimes the birds themselves is called a "yaffle"

Or you might mean a greater or a lesser spotted woodpecker which do also have varying degrees of red on them.
