A good night at the Hoop & Grapes in Farringdon Street EC4 last night (Fri) when PASALB met with Simon Hallett who spoke to the meeting and then did a Q/A session.

He said that relegation had come as a big shock to everyone.

In hindsight it became obvious that we had not had a successful transfer window last summer.

He was looking at all possible sources of income for the future.

The big question of course was the eventual sacking of Derek Adams.....Mr Hallett said that it was a very sad moment.....he said that Derek was a very kind and intelligent friendly person and worked endlessly to achieve the best he could for the club.

We went into the Accrington game knowing that a two win finish to the season would be sufficient to avoid relegation.....but the team didn't perform on a very wet and cold day and lost badly....at the end of the match a section of the green support had given Adams a hard time and Adams refused to talk to the media which is his obligation to the EFL and to the club......on Sunday the board decided that for Argyle to have any chance of beating Scunthorpe on the last day of the season....then Adams/Wotton had to go and Nancekevill was put in charge.

Simon Hallett said that he still can't explain what happened this season.

He said in hindsight that Adams had been given too much autonomy.....the new Manager would not be given a 5 year contract.....he was surprised with the strength of the candidates for the post....and interviews for the position took place on Friday....it was all done in confidence because some candidates were still under contract and agents and clubs are involved....no decisions will be taken in the next 48 hrs.

Adams contract was not paid in full but an agreement was come to and any additional expenses would be covered by Mr Hallett.

All drinks for the 30 or so attending were on Simon Hallett's tab at the bar.....I thought of you all and had drinks for you all.....I wouldn't want you all to miss out.

Those pre-season games look very similar in quality to the disastrous pre-season start of last season.....the mighty Yeovil (now National League) probably want a sturdier test this year than Argyle....(remember a 5-1 thrashing they gave us last summer).

One other comment of worth by Simon Hallett last Friday (PASALB meeting) was that a new manager should commit himself to living in the Plymouth area for possibly 6 days a week. It was also emphasised that the new manager would travel with the team on the team bus to away matches....this was seen as important.....it was mentioned that Tony Pulis had never done that....which many didn't realize.

Comments so far about a new manager are suggesting that 'maybe' four interviews were held on Friday and are suggesting that two more might be held today.
A manager might be in place by the end of the week or just after next weekend....of course none of this is more than whispers at present.....but we do know that 'some' interviews were held last Friday because Simon Hallett confirmed that personally last Friday evening at the PASALB meeting that he attended.

Six game flexi tickets go on sale today notDistant.....but no fixture list to choose from as yet, so not too helpful until that comes out.

So...no manager...no team...no fixtures...no dates.....so all looks a little pointless.....even picking dates that you know that you will be able to go to.....you will not at present know if it will be a home game or away game.....so why announce it now ?
