Looks like Brian Clough was right about Tomaszewski. He is a clown.

Legia with their dodgy history are in no position to take any moral high ground, their behaviour over the last week or so has been like a wean throwing the toys oot the pram, ffs Henning Berg has even admitted phoning and speaking/arguing with Ronny. Who the **** does he think he is?

If Cas does rule in Legia's favour (I don't see how they can though) we should kick up a fuss of our own and start finger pointing.

<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

What a sad little dick.

Legia didn't intend to cheat, didn't need to cheat to win and they did not cheat as Bereszynski served de facto the 3 match suspension (except that in match against St. Patrick his name was omitted from the match statement as a player serving suspension). The balancing of equities should apply in view of the above and in view of the comprehensive wins, to which player in question did not contribute except for being 4 minutes on the patch.

I don't see how Celtic have ground to proceed. The in-eligible player had no bearing on the result - he came on with 2 minutes remaining. Fair enough kick out LW if FIFA want to be tough - but how can Celtic justifiably go through.

I have nothing against Celtic - but this just stinks - Maribor should have a bye to the next round if LW are to be excluded.

Lets say Celtic miracle sly win the whole competition - how can that be truly regarded when the team were comfortably beaten in a qualifying round.

If the player had come on much earlier, and influenced the result - then perhaps a fairer argument - maybe a replay, huge fine, etc.

What we're talking about here is a club that openly glorify in terrorist atrocities and willingly hush up child abuse.

F*ucking over Legia Warsaw is nothing to them <ok>

But they didn't follow the rules ... simple as that. It's doesn't matter if he played both legs 180 minutes or 10 second.

It's not cheating but they f**ed up.

UEFA made their decision based on their published rules.

An admin error. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. It's ridiculous <laugh>

Celtic should have done the decent thing and offered them a one match play off.

Which UEFA wouldn't have recognised, would've punished Celtic for not adhering to their rules and probably would've barred both teams <applause>

Why didn't you offer Spartans a one off match for the Div 3 place?

It is ridiculous. I agree 100%. However, it is the rules. UEFA applied them.

Celtic couldn't if they wanted to (a play off). Celtic could not have agreed with Legia on a play off (if they have wanted to) without UEFA going radge.

Why should Celtic face upsetting UEFA?

It's up to UEFA (or now CAS) to determine the course of action. Not Legia and certainly not Celtic.

You are responding to a post from a ****** who has long since ****ed off after making an absolute **** of himself on this thread.

Bereszynksi’s admission does not look good for the Poles and their own FA chief has also sank the boot in. Boniek has been critical of Celtic’s refusal to have dialogue but insisted Legia only have themselves to blame. He said: “The guilt does not lie with UEFA or Celtic but with Legia. The people who are responsible for it have turned out to be completely incompetent. As the head of the Polish FA I would always try to help Legia or any other Polish team. “I called, I asked, I got strongly involved but the provisions for which Legia were punished left no doubt. It had to be a walkover. “Could Celtic have behaved differently? I know what I would have done but 95 per cent of clubs are not willing to give up such an opportunity. “I played in a European Cup Final where 38 people were killed and I was the only player who gave my $100,000 win bonus to the families of the victims but everyone has a different mentality. “It is clearly written that playing a suspended player means a forfeit. Someone at Legia has made a mistake you should not commit.” Bereszynski also admitted he had no gripe with Celtic and said: “The fault in this whole affair is not with Celtic, just us. “This is today’s football. If you are not vigilant at every step you’re out of the game.”

A DECENT Celtic fan....... <yikes>

It'll never catch on.

I agree. If the aggregate score was a little more even, I could see the force of all the fuss. Since Celtic were well and truly beaten, a little discretion is called for and a simple clerical error should be over looked. I am a Celtic fan and I would have thought that the board and management would have a little more sporting integrity and honour regarding this. If we don't play well (which we didn't), we don't deserve this gift - we'd only waste it anyway. The lack of decent competition in Scotland has seen Celtic's standard of play, attitude and industriousness deteriorate significantly. I'm interested in good football, and it's a while since we saw some at Celtic park. Come on Celtic, do the decent thing. Any other club would probably step aside and let the real winners through. We really don't deserve this.
