let me help you... inver stated had a game of football at Villa park .... arranged a day out to see Aston Villa vs Burnley which included a friendly against Villa juniors.
[I stated the time frame] was when there was a mud heap ..
Inver didnt understand the mud heap comment
I then said there was a "hill and it was muddy" [standing at end of ground on muddy terracing!] ... still commenting on Villa Park BTW.... so would google it to make sure my memory from 1971/72 was not from somewhere else!
SUPPLIED A PICTURE of the same ground Villa park as I remembered it ....... Inver possibly played there about 70's or maybe earlier ....
so there you go VILLA PARK in the 70's went there a few times ... second time took spare clothes!

I seriously can't remember anything like that John and the photo looks pre-60's I would think. If that lump at the end was indeed a pile of mud, or even grassy knoll, I think I might have remembered a site (sight) like that!

I’m aware of the contents of the thread, just not convinced the photo you put up is as you described it, from inver’s comments after your photo, he isn’t either.

well picture is from the 70's " loose terminology pile of mud" it was muddy cant remember any barriers, to be fair if as you said there was a big match after your game likely it would be covered with " some spectators" ...

I tend to remember that there were about 25,000+ by the time we left the pitch after a thumping.
