I played for the school team at football and in junior school I once scored 7 goals in one game , it included a perfect hat trick, left foot, right foot and header. it was on the clanage, but for the life of me I can’t remember which school our opponents were.

For a while I played rugby for the school in senior school, one year we went all year without losing a game.

And until about 7 years ago used to shock people at squash as the fat man beat them.

<laugh> I was always crap at squash but used it on a regular basis as a workout! My opponent would stand on the 'T' placing shots here, there and everywhere, whilst I ran around like a headless chicken!! Far better than a boring circuit routine:emoticon-0148-yes:

I’ve (used to have) a wicket disguised slice drop shot that, as they chased where they thought it would go to find it dropped earlier. No idea where I got it from but they always fell for it.
My wife was a really good tennis player (better than the comp I played in I mentioned earlier), she even went on school comps abroad playing. She hated it when we played tennis and I would do that slice. But in my defence against her it stopped her passing me on the side line <laugh> making me look a twat.

I won several racquetball trophies in my middle ages and the secret was to rule the centre space to block your opponent. Apart from that I once played a full 18 holes with Bob Charles the lefty from New Zealand and it was an experience beyond belief as he was such a very nice man. When I was 17 and an apprentice at ROF Puriton my instructor was involved with Taunton Town juniors and had arranged a day out to see Aston Villa vs Burnley which included a friendly against Villa juniors. When the bus picked me up in Pawlett I was told to go home and get my boots because several players had gone down with some stomach bug and I might get to play. We arrived at Villa Park and were met by Joe Mercer and told we could play our game there instead of the training ground because the pitch was in perfect condition which was incredible. Needless to say our patched up squad were decimated by a thoroughly brutal team and the final score was something like 22-0 but the sound of the crowd awaiting the other match cheering us off the pitch was something I have never forgotten, and never will. Oh happy days. <cheers>

P.S. I believe that several players for our opposition went on to get full international honours.
