I'm SR out now. I've given them a load of time, but aside from our promotion season, there's been **** all to celebrate on the pitch and enough is enough.
Our form since Tonda was announced as permanent manager is diabolical. We've fallen off a cliff. What's happened? The players need to have a long, hard look at themselves (yet again), but we shouldn't have appointed Still. When he was sacked, we should have had a plan to replace him sooner, rather than appointing Tonda in the interim and end up being forced to give it to him permanently. We were one of the biggest spenders in the summer (if not the biggest), and have invested badly (yet again) ruining our best shot at an immediate return to the Prem (which might not be the worst thing). It's wrong decision after wrong decision after wrong decision x20.
I got to my seat on Saturday and didn't really want to be there, even before Hull scored. The thought of not going again this season is much more appealing than continuing to spend a load of my money for no return - which ironically is what the club do constantly.
In their minor defence, I understand what they're trying to do to increase revenue, with things like the Level1 place in the Chapel (which is actually quite good) and the fanzones/pub. I quite like the fanzones, but even so the price of a pint (in a poxy plastic cup) is taking the piss. But even if all that goes to plan and revenues go up, they'll only waste it as they've proven previously.
I defended the moving of the away fans - and I do still think that our fans need to play more of a part - but it's clear that was also wrong. Different fans enjoy different things, but the lack of a back and forth between our vocal support and the away end has killed most of the enjoyment of going to St Mary's for me, it's so flat. Maybe it's hard to judge considering we've had nothing to cheer since making that change, but certainly doesn't seem to have worked based on what we've seen so far.
As it stands I certainly won't be renewing my season ticket. I suspect most of the fan anger will be released on/after Sunday when we lose to the Skates.
