Some good workouts by a few players. Have to say, I thought SWP worked hard and looked up for it; on the other side I was hoping to see a rejuvenated Hoillet, but was not to be. Liked our back four first half, and pleased to,see Onouha in the mix - think he will shine this season. AJ good - Zamora poor. Can see Frankie Sutherland getting play time this season. Bit too much sideways passing - not too keen on 'crab football'. We will need to press forward this season. With, supposedly, new players still to come in, it's difficult to see how things will pan out this season.
Second half, not too bad. Nice linking play between Junior, SWP and Frankie. AJ working hard. Backs look solid Hoillet putting decent corners. Liked Dunne can only get better as he gets thinner. Henry no decision. Simpson solid. MBia no change from last season Bad side Green looked weak, Bobby wasn't even on the coach let alone the pitch. So more pluses than minuses then. It may not be THAT bad
I don't think he did much, other than play that tidy ball at the end which did lead to a goal after the corner. But way better than Zamora.
Positives for me - AJ new Mackie? Didn't stop running worked hard. No more booting ball up from goal kicks, playing it out from back nice to see. 3 goals today from all over the park we're getting players in the box. Simpson looked good going forward. Henry looked solid and good vision. Defence looked pretty solid against long high balls. All in all not too bad now roll on next weekend. COYR'S.
Henry actually looked ok and did a good job while beside Mbia. We lost the midfield a bit after he went off. Would like to have seen more of Suk, He first touch of match was terrible but kept his head up and had a good half over all.
Pre-season friendlies are not much to go on, but we are looking solid. Simpson and Suk look good and the Ned/Dunne partnership also looks good, pace and experience. A solid back four is extremely important. We also need to put the pressure on going forward - AJ is looking lively, BZ is not (Remy???). The midfield that played tonight is not good enough (I only saw the second half). SWP-Henry-Faulin-Hoilett are probably the starters next week, are they good enough to pressure Sheff. Weds? I am always optimistic, but we need one or two "better" players to come in if we are to get promoted.
As much as I'd love Faurlin to start on Saturday, surely he would have played tonight if that was likely? Granero is ahead of him in the pecking order.
If you take the solidity we showed tonight and added the verve of adel and the clinical finishing of Remy and took Zamora out if the equation it might just work Problem is adel & Remy might not feature, Henry & m'bia will give away endless free kicks and cards and green looks as shaky as always There's very little strength in depth especially up front

Maybe, Roller, but the difference between the two is minimal. The point is that this midfield is nowhere near as strong as we should have with our excess of midfielders. Put in Townsend, Adel and Barton(?) and then we are talking.
Have been busy and just caught up with the result. Having read through the thread it seems clear that the defence are looking good, with a dodgy Green behind them. But a central midfield of Henry/Granero? ****!! And as for Zamora? Apparently looked ****.........against Southend ffs!! Problem is...............Harry loves him!! How about this next Saturday? ------------------Green------------------ Simpson------Dunne----Onuoha-------Suk ------------Henry------Faurlin----------- SWP------------Taarabt-----------Hoilett ---------------Remy--------------------- That would piss all over Wednesday...................but Harry won't pick anything like it!!
