Between their two goals I thought we were superb.

Defensively we’re fine now if these players stay fit but **** me we have nothing going forwards. Carved them open a few times and didn’t force a serious save.

Fans were great. Plenty of teenagers on the Haribo.

To be honest 3 points is more than I expected after 3 away games in first 4. There seem to be a load of other teams that will struggle as well.

Still some promise. But we are sadly short up front. Not sure what’s left in the smashed piggy bank, so not expecting anything at all from the buttons. We seem to be doing better than everyone expected - and this league is always full of surprises - we have to turn these performances into points pretty damn soon though or we’ll be staring upwards and getting scared.

Same old story i'm afraid, play reasonably well but have no points to show for it. Until we get a goalscorer in nothing will change, end of. Kolli miss was diabolical. There's not much more Ainsworth can so, his hands are tied. Without any funds to strengthen, especially up top we'll never know if he could be a good manager. Feel sorry for him and us the fans !

It's hard to get too disheartened despite the result. We tried to do the right things but it just wasn't to be. Certainly a lot closer game than I expected.
Without Armstrong then that set up doesn't work at all. He has the ability to hold and the ability to turn and out run a defence as generally the other 9 players are defending. It was all about responding today, which was both good and bad. When there 2nd went in and Armstrong is tiring, there's no options at all to get back in to the game. When Adomah comes on, you know it's game over.

If we could add more pace than just that of Smyth and Armstrong then we could improve.

We don’t know how to keep possession.

I agree with the comments about pace etc., but this lot could barely string more than 3 passes together most of the time.

If we could add lots of things we'd improve, but what's he meant to do with no bunce ? It's an impossible job

Silwood Close, off Bereweeke Avenue, near Peter Symonds grammar school which I attended, all boys unfortunately, with CCF mandatory, although a couple of kids from CO families did gardening on Friday afternoons instead of military activities. Had a mate from Kingsworthy whilst at school whose parents ran the local service station (Shell?), also a girlfriend who I recall my Dad wasn't pleased about me seeing as her brother appeared in a Hampshire Chronicle story for thieving.

I went to Symonds when it was a 6th form (1982-84). The Shell garage on the A33 between the Cart & Horses junction and Winnall? Small world.

We hit the bar (second game running we've hit the woodwork) and had one disallowed today. Chair worked some great positions for himself but couldn't finish. I'd say we've been a tad unlucky.

We do need a result though, or it won't be long before heads drop if these good performances continue to go unrewarded. Having said that though, we've got rid of droopy drawers Dickie who was the worst culprit and GA really does seem to be motivating the players now. Cook and Fox looking like decent acquisitions in that respect too.

We've still got Dykes and Dunne to come back and maybe Willock if he can get his head out of his arse. I'm still feeling cautiously optimistic.

Play like we have done and I reckon we'll given someone a spanking soon.

From what l’m reading, we played well and when you consider that we only had 26% of possession, how we got anywhere near them in possibly snatching a point is amazing.

I think I saw a different game to many, Oz. I agree with Bwood that between Saints’ two goals we played very well, but for the rest of the match (and from where I was sat) I thought we were very ordinary and often poor.

Been around for a few years. It’s a stats model used by clubs and betting companies to assess players/teams who are better/worse than their goals, results etc. suggest. It’s useful to a point. Under Beale we regularly had poor xG which suggested we were getting a bit lucky but we knew that anyway.

Sorry that was Kings Somborne where my mate lived and his dad had the had station. I think I recall that pub, is that the A33 en route to Stockbridge, from Winchester where you turn off left to Kings Somborne, and the pub is right on that corner? So no military stuff as a 6th form college? So you are about 11 years behind me, I turn 70 in Dec, so you must be around 60?/

Ah, that was the Rack & Manger, which sadly served its last pint about 10 years ago.

Yeah, I turn 57 very soon, so a little behind you.

Symonds was (and remains) a mixed sixth-form college, albeit one with a good academic reputation thankfully untarnished by my mediocre stint there. Not sure if it did any CCF or other military stuff; certainly not at the forefront of things during my time.
