i recall that day we were leading Wigan 1-0 at HT and it ended 9-1 to us...we just dont know what we are going to get with our team.
That was an important win after Chelsea - sometimes its the result that counts and not how you get it - today the 3 points are fine thank you
Disappointed that we seemed to step off the gas in the second half, we should have kept the pressure and intensity up and pushed for more goals. First half was very good, shows that the second half was down to poor mentality rather than poor players IMO. At the end of the day we're 4th in the table with 5 important players still to come back into contention for places, so as long as AVB and the players learn from what happened today and start to keep the intensity high throughout the game and not get complacent like we seemed to today then I won't be complaining. Onward and upwards.
Massive congratulations to the team for the win, and in particular AVB who proved me wrong. The first half saw some exceptional play, and so pleased we held on for the win. Goes without saying we need Dembele back soon, haven't caught up with the AdE story yet, if there is one.. It's great we're 4th, here's hoping we're still 4th after 12 and 38 games.
I feel that the result(I didn't see the match) wasn't what it should ahve been after being 0-2 up after 40 minutes and we'll struggle at WBA,Everton and Liverpool unless we find the right rhythm. We are 4th and there's no reason why we can't stay there.
Anyone else seen the vid on the BBC match report? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20020083 Embarassing
Home games: Drab first half, good second half Away games: Good first half, drab second half That seems to sum up our games so far this season.
Thought Huddlestone was very good, so I was naturally very pleased to see him go off. He was possibly my MOTM. Ultimately him going off for you and Mayuka coming on for us is what changed the game in my opinion. God we were awful in that first half. You really could have been 4-0 up at HT if you'd wanted to. Gallas and AVB had a bit of a go at each in the second half. Got the impression that Gallas wanted to come off (he'd been limping for quite some time), but AVB wasn't having any of it. But any way, 2-1 was a fair result. Our comeback didn't quite warrant a point, and it certainly didn't equal out your first half dominance. Very nice touch from Bale not to celebrate.
Agreed. I was afraid the Chelsea loss might have sapped our spirit, so it was great to see us playing just as we did in the first half, and taking three points at the end. The biggest plus for me was seeing Huddlestone look decent again, good even, as he did against Chelsea. We need Dembele back, but it sounds like one of those injuries where he could be fine the rest of the year, or turn into a chronic problem. Class from Bale, both in the goal and the non-celebration, and awesome from Sandro. Ed: I agree we don't want two DMs. A team with no one that can pass in the middle meant an inability to keep the ball just when you need it. What about trying Gylfi there? He can pass and will run, at least. I can see the article in the Fail: "Pressure builds on AVB, who has failed to win all but five of his previous six games..."
Quality Bit of a third eye from Soccer AM. Glad to hear we won and the Huddlestone did well(I take the credit for that).
Blimey, that's amazing. I was behind the goal at the other end of the ground, so didn't appreciate what heroic defending that was.
