You may be right but I'm going to have to disagree.

I don't think there's any chance Southampton appeal will be successful ...

... I think it's just a face-saving measure so they can act all aggrieved.

They're just trying to put doubts in people's minds to minimise the flak they'll be getting in my opinion.
I think the 4 points deduction has been given on the understanding that when Soton appeal theyll have it removed. If Soton win the appeal fully then Boro will appeal surely?

Not a great lover of Boro but totally correct decision. Manager should be sacked and the board resign and club sold to owners that will bring integrity and respect back to the club. All Boro fans should be compensated for any any expenses occurred. As mentioned congratulations to the EFL and the decision. The Premier League please note this stance.....get your respect back by putting Man City in the Conference League next season for all there supposed wrong doings or at very least make a f*cking decision on it. This sort of stuff p*sses me off....don't destroy the peoples game.

Only possible decision, which makes it all the more surprising!

If Southampton had any one leading the club they should, tonight, say they accept the decision without reservation, apologise profusely to the three clubs involved -and to football generally - and feasibly offer some sort of compensation to Oxford.

To have kept their reputation in the game, now lost, they should have done all of this on Friday morning.

The evidence must have been overwhelming for the EFL to discover a spine.

Well said mate.

I've had occasions, at work, when the best option has been to hold my hands up, take the hit and apologise for getting summat wrong ...

... Southampton are currently looked down on as terrible cheats and appealing will only make things worse.

They're cheats, no getting away from it.

I wonder if anyone at Southampton gets the chop for this? My guess is the manager might go if it looks like he knew about it or ordered it.
Even if he says he didn't know, which would be a ridiculous thing for him to say, he should still be sacked. Really, a proper bloke would have quit, knowing the lengths and depths of the cheating.

You just never, ever let a junior take the rap. Absolutely not done. I could never have lived with myself if I had ever done that.

The two absolute golden rules.

Own up quick and apologise.

And never chuck a young lad under the bus.

I don't believe it was the EFL 'prosecuting', they were a 'defendant' along with Southampton.

Judges made the decision as far as I'm aware ...

... I've not really followed it, just pleased with the judgement.
Yeah, it was three judges who made the judgement Smug, but I'm not sure about their Terms of Reference. The Terms of Reference would have been issued by the commissioning body, which I would think would be the EFL.

Reactions: rowley
So not only were they caught cheating during the final exams theyve admitted copying the coursework as well. Alot of them seem to be directing their anger at the EFL, Boro, Steve Gibson. They need to direct their anger at their own club. Some are demanding a refund on every single penny theyve spent on following them this season. However Im not sure whether they are directing this at their club or the EFL.

It should be Hull promoted really as Southampton are their opponents and they've been expelled. Putting Boro in so they don't lose their Wembley money spinner.

Hull deserve their day at Wembley and Boro didn't deserve being spied on thereby having their plans disrupted.

Hull would've had to have played Southampton, in any case, so it's not a hammer blow having to play Boro.

And, being selfish, I'm now looking forward to the game whereas I wouldn't have watched Southampton play on principle.
