Sound bars by design are limited in what they can achieve, it is simply down to the acoustic limitations of the design and concept.
Again - judge by what you hear.....I'd never buy one without a proper listen. However, I've listened to the lower end brands such as Logik and Technica and thought they were quite poor. The worst I think I've heard was a JVC system - sound was just a mess. That's not to say all JVC soundbars aren't good - just the particular model I heard was. Most of the LG systems are fairly decent and reasonable in price. I have an LG one in my living room and the sound is quite transparent. I bought it about 3 years ago for about £280 I think. I also bought an LG for my Mum for Christmas about 2 years ago - about £150 - again it's pretty good and certainly miles better than the TV speakers. Just make sure to get one that comes with a separate sub - you won't get much low end without one. The wireless subs are great as you don't need to run a signal cable to them. Placement isn't such an issue with subs either as low end frequencies are much less directional.
I’ve got one of them, must be 15 years old now. Love the alarm when it gently raises the volume. Brilliant sound, I do like my Bose equipment. Have a lovely set of wireless headphones as well.
If you want speakers for a laptop/pc/phone etc get one of these. Small speakers but pack one hell of a punch. All of my headphones, speakers etc ar Bose.
