All I was saying is looking at points and goal differencial between Newcastle and Swansea there is a pretty good chance that castle have had a fair bit of luck and we havent.... you can try to tell me what I meant vetch but at the very least I dont have to believe you. I sincerely believe we have been very unlucky ... full stop ! Its not an excuse , its what I believe .

Of course you don't have to believe me,and I haven't asked you to. I merely dispute your belief that bad luck has played a major part in the parlous position that Swansea find themselves in.

You compare them with Newcastle based on goal differences, and are happy to draw conclusions that please you,and your beliefs.

I prefer to believe that Swansea are where they are because that reflects how poor they have been all season.

The table doesn't lie,and there is no allowance made in League Tables to reflect how much bad luck supporters think their team has suffered.

We are never going to agree on this,so best leave it lie.

I know that at the end of the season, it is often said that "the table doesn't lie" and that "over a season decisions even out", but that penalty decision for Stoke could prove really costly, as could that handball by Joe Cole near the end of the West Ham home match.

Those extra 4 points would probably make us "fairly safe"- indeed, they may also have kept ML in his job.

Taff, the question I now have to ask is,how many dodgy decisions have benefitted Swansea? Please don't say none, because I won't believe you.

Follower's of football teams are notoriously biased and partisan, and only see things in one direction,i.e. in their favour.

We've had the odd bit of bad luck but we've had some good luck too. Just like every other team! If you're good enough then luck matters less.

Question: Has a team ever been relegated from the BPL with a positive goal difference? We could be record breakers.

Better still, you tell me where you think we gained a distinct benefit.

Sorry,I don't have to do that.

You feel that the team has suffered at the hands of officials.fate,or whatever, whilst I feel it's a two way street.

If you feel happier, and more comfortable in your belief, that's O.K.,but I don't share your point of view.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but it would have been interesting for you to have backed it up with some facts. I had expected you to at least point to Tiendalli's handball against Hull.......

3 point for a win.
Zilch for a defeat.
That's all that matters really.

Win enough games and goal difference is not an issue.

Remembering such incidents as Tiendalli's hand ball,or a marginal offside decision for,or against, are not the kind of things I feel the need to recall. Life is too short, and I cannot be bothered.

As Stereo has pointed out,a win equates to 3 points, and a draw gives you 1.

The team has struggled all season to put enough points on the board.

I heard a great deal of talk about us being "too good to go down","our players are better than so and so's players",and my favourite, viz,"other teams wish they had our players". <laugh>

The inescapable fact is that the team has not performed well enough, and no amount of excuses can hide that.

The writing was on the wall, for me anyway, when we lost the season opener 1-4.
That looked ominous to me at the time, but others here saw it differently.
"We were playing the champions",and, "they scored two world class goals",whatever that means.
So excuses began to unfurl back then and have continued unabated.

Blaming the officials for lack of success,or whatever,is a very popular passtime amongst supporters of most,if not all,Clubs.

Hi Minxy, thanks. It took such a thread to winkle you out,and you've changed your name again. Was it something I said? <laugh>

Anyway, your luck has changed for the better, well,I'm talking to you. How much luck can a girl need? :emoticon-0115-inlov

As I type, the delectable Elkie Brooks is keeping me company via my new, expensive, headphones, and as she is singing "I will paint a pretty picture",I'm thinking of you. :emoticon-0110-tongu

So,now get on with the ironing, and be a good girl.

baffling team selections was the downfall I say, not refs decisions and a couple of idiotic red cards did not help

not all season but I would say half of the matches had some woeful starting lineups. poor play does not help I might add. if we survive it might make a few ppl wake up to themselves. what is required? a new manager and basically a new squad because I would get rid of half the current squad

I'm not so sure. We have quite a few decent players with a handful of what I would call dead wood. The squad is good enough for at least mid table as they proved last season. My concern assuming we stay up is replacing Bony as I'll be amazed if we can keep him and I really don't think Monk will attract players here.

Our bad luck is on many levels , although all that matters in the end is the 3 points its criminal how those points are obtained on occasion . Going more than a year alone without a spot kick is far and beyond bad luck .
