This is a start. It looks like Larsson struggles with the following compared to some of the mid-table CMs:

(NB: I made the stats come our on a per 90 minute basis where possible)

Aerial duels - we really need someone who can do this and Larsson isn't the only one to blame
Pass completetion (the 2 to 3% he's down here is a chunky difference)
Completed passes - he's well behind here, whether forwards or backwards, which shows he doesn't impose himself on the game as well (even though he's working his nuts off)

he's being compared to DM's here though. how does Catts fare against this lot?

It's quite obvious to me that this just confirms your determination to 'put him down' and your bitterness towards one of our best players, who has just been given the best award possible from Sunderland A.F.C. <doh>

Last night Seb was magnificent. All of the lads were. But the sight of Seb throwing himself into tackles and blocks when clearly injured towards the end, plus calmness receiving the ball in tight situations around the penalty area must be gutting for those Newcastle fans who have had to endure a complete lack of commitment from their players (such as Colocinni turning his back on shots in case he gets hit in the face).

QPR have been relegated due to a number of "bad eggs" in their squad rather than a lack of quality in their team. From his performances over the last couple of seasons Seb is one player who we must keep as an example to new signings, the youngsters coming through the academy etc.

I'm so pleased to be so wrong about Seb.

I wasn't his greatest fan at the start of the season but he's been fantastic for us and deserves his award!

You're right Smiffy about the young'uns learning from his attitude. Hope he stays a bit longer!

Seb & Coates last night were 2 of the best performances I have seen in the shirt since I first entered Roker Park in 1987, not remotely exaggerated.

Seb has been superb all season and fully committed, doesn't have the ability of some CMs we know, but since he signed that new deal he has worked his balls off and he showed again last night why he deserved the honour.

He, Costel & PVA, they've been the 3 that have all season been right.

You look like you're enjoying that fella. <laugh>

Sorry fella. Just press reply on the post you want to quote fella.

here you go fella. http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix it's opta data so the most accurate in the game. However, ignore defence and attack score as that's flawed to ****. It's a good site fella, frustrating it doesn't do speed and distance covered but it's still more in depth and accurate than any other except opta itself but that's a pay site for Journos which the papers, bbc and sky use.

Also give this a look

http://www.squawka.com/teams/sunderland/results Click on detailed match stats for an unbeliveably in depth stat break down of that match, compare teams, players and layer player stats. Also there's a drag bar where you can select a segment of the match, remember when you open the page the time line is set to the 90th minute. Have fun and remember it's an opta engine so it's accurate as it comes. <ok>:)

Coates had a 100% tackle success according to that site against Arsenal. 5 blocks, 10 clearances and won 75% of his aerial duels.

On larsson: I've said for a couple of seasons now that he is a "quiet" player who gets a job done without getting noticed. Unfortunately instead of getting praise, this means he gets (got) pointed out as being a weak/poor player.
I hope to see a pacy, skilled AM to play in front of Larsson and Catts next season.

Too be fair fella, Even Larsson admits that in the run up to this season he's fallen short of the required standard so I think those people had a point. Most said he's been poor before this season, most have said this season he's been the best. The consensus is usually correct.

Good site that isn't it fella?

He's come into his own this season for sure, gone from a decent CM to a very good one IMO. I never thought he was poor though.

I am indeed, thanks again mate

I must admit, seb's better than I had thought, but I still believe that his spot is one we should prioritise for an upgrade. Of course, two centre backs, a pacy winger and a striker/forward are also on the list!

Trust me Gordon, I say what I say out of love for our club. I'm just frustrated with the last few seasons and this one has been right up there with the worst of them for me. I've nearly finished my end of season review article which the Salut site will hopefully publish. By then, I'll have gotten everything off my chest and be ready to start again next season

The adverts come up based on things you have looked at. So can I presume you are looking at new ways of funding your cross-dressing?

All I'd do with center Mid is I'd bring Fer in and let Bridcutt go

yep. Bridcutt is a squad filler. Fer or someone of his ilk (Dembele type) is needed to complement what we have in Catts and Seb. A big powerhouse, with a strong shot, useful in the air...and box.

Big strong and a natural box to box powerhouse. What we need in the middle of the park imo
