As I said before, he could be completely guessing about the reason for the clause, but if he says there is a buy-out clause then there is one, simple as.
As I've said before, he has contacts with the players and the players came to him to release a statement regarding the running of the club. You have no reason not to believe him, I have every reason to do so.
If he was having even 1% doubt over the move, why come... let alone supposedly put a buy back clause in a contract??
Well, as I suggested earlier, a buy-out clause would make sure he's sorted both ways. What way is that?
If a club offers an agreed sum then Snoddy has a right to talk to them and accept their offer if he so wishes!
Think about it Norwich fans, it's hardly unbelievable. One thing Snodgrass has shown is he is loyal to Leeds so this hardly surprises me, he probably at the moment would rather play in the Prem for Leeds than us. Doesn't mean he won't feel the same about Norwich in time but to me it's not a surprise at all. I believe it, and another thing the buy back fee is definitely more than we paid for him, otherwise that would be ridiculous.
It was definitely a buy-back clause that was talked about rather than a normal continental buy out clause. Guessing it would be the same thing but we would be the only club who could activate it.
That's the way I'm looking at it. If he comes to love it even more at Norwich then he simply wouldn't have to speak to us.
Look just because we bought one and got one free does not mean the next has to have a supermarket type deal, I think if he is carp we should take him back and exchange him for Bechio
I've no idea how prevalent these kind of clauses are in contracts, but if Snoddy insisted on it, then I can't imagine it'd be out of Leeds' price range. Equally, I'd think at our end we'd have put a time limit of say 2-3 seasons on the clause. That way if Leeds' go up fairly swiftly then Snoddy gets his wish of playing for Leeds in the PL, and it stops us having to worry about developing him to his peak then Leeds getting him back for a steal.
Yeah. I'd imagine it would have to have been OK'd by all parties (obviously) and so we can't just shaft you by taking him back in 4 years because we feel like it.
How is Alan Smith's return to the only club he'll ever love going on? Oh hang on, he never went back did he and actually ended up dropping down a further league to play for MK Dons last time I looked. I remember him crying his eyes out when you went down and he 'begrudgungly' joined your arch rival ManUre so he could stay in the Premiership, sobbing his little heart out her was, gutted because he never wanted to wear another shirt other than Leeds' Like I said, he's at MK Dons now and never wore the Leeds shirt again - so what went wrong there? This is clearly a wum thread that a lot of us have got involved in, there's still only one person embarrassing themselves on here though. Snoddy is a Canary, get over it, I think that's the best advice I can offer right now
I'm pretty sure this happens in a lot of deals so not sure why there is such a lengthy discussion about it. Really, to me this means nothing Although I do not doubt the source because as Simon says (hehe) it is a very trustworthy source
Guys, give Simon a break. He's come on here for a bit of general footy chat. For what it's worth, I think a buy back clause is good business for him, no different to Holt trying to get himself the best deal for his family. Soddy will love it in Norfolk (as they all do) so we have nothing to worry about. The buy back clause (if it exists) can only be good business for all involved. In an age where footballers are universally viewed as selfish arrogant twats (as opposed to the genuine athletes we've had the pleasure of viewing for the last two weeks) I think it's refreshing that a young promising footballer is doing the right thing for both clubs and himself.
I agree, it's a win win for Snodgrass. If he loves it in Norwich then he can stay, if he doesn't he could have the opportunity to move back somewhere he knows and is appreciated. I can also imagine that if it was a sticking point then Norwich will have decided it would be better to give Snodgrass the terms he wanted in his contract. And I can assure you all I'm not wumming, it's not something that appeals to me and tbh I wouldn't know how to go about it if I did. Just thought I'd pass on a bit of information that concerns both our clubs and get a gauge on some opinions.
Clause or no clause, if (in the future) he wanted to return to Leeds and Leeds wanted him back then it would no doubt happen. I sometimes wonder why they bother with player contracts outside of a salary arrangement.
Be nice to simon he's certainly not wumming! It's sensible for Snodgrass. Just look at Crofts, his move back to Brighton was probably due to a buy back clause. Seeing as he wasn't quite up to Premier League standard it was a sensible thing to do.
