Considering the success of last season and the ambition being shown by the powers at SFC, is anyone else slightly disappointed at the lack of notable transfers this summer. With Wanyama being arguably our only well known signing, and name such as Damiao being thrown about, I can't help but feel we should have seen one or two more arrivals. Thoughts?

Dejan Lovren isn't known?

I'm largely happy with the two signings. Dejan has looked reasonable when playing for us, despite some doubts.

Wanyama has been impressive and I'm very happy with that.

Cortese outlined three main targets and Pochettino has gone on record to say we want a top striker.

I'm more than happy to wait for a quality addition.

People seem to think quantity is more important than quality...

Why do people persist with these pathetic threads? The club are trying to get players in - a striker most likely, but the market is slow for everyone. Man Utd haven't signed a notable player yet. Still 3 weeks to go.

I think we need to wait until the end of the window to make that call. We've been going for serious name targets and have as yet struggled to land everyone we wanted to, but I get the impression we're also playing hard-ball. Let's wait and see. It's not a disaster going into the season with what we have, though there's the worry we're 2 or 3 injuries away from having a rather harder time than we'd like. I'd be surprised if there's no more signings before September though. No need to panic just yet.

Pleased about Lovren. Very pleased about Wanyama. Would like another attacking player, either an established striker to take the pressure off Rickie or a winger type. Disappointed that 2 targets escaped us but it's not the end of the world. We didn't seem to have a general lack of goals last season, Rickie is still in his prime, J-Rod has real potential and mayuka may prove to be an asset. If we make no further signings I won't be pessimistic.

Nope, clearly the club aren't trying, won't be trying and will never try before the end of the window.

They've signed Wanyama and Lovren and that's it. Only one notable player ffs...

I wasn't aware of Lovren until he signed. I'm not doubting that things would happen, but with no friendlies left, I just would have liked the chance too see a few more additions get some game time. We cannot be compared to United. We are building, they are built

Manchester United evidently aren't built or they wouldn't still be buying. Their midfield needs improvement for sure.

Yea, one notable player. Lovren, a man with CL experience that even Cortese thought was too good for us, and Wanyama, a man wanted by many teams and already looks a top player. Disastrous window.

Totally agree. Frustrating but we have to be patient.

Yeah, but, United were already the best team in the league, we were in a relegation battle and are now aiming for the top half, it's different. I'm not saying it's right to be panicking just yet, but then, I think a lot of fans have become overexcited at Cortese's ambition and are expecting more than we'll deliver.

If the window ends without us signing someone else, it'll certainly be disappointing.

I'm expecting one more signing, a forward player.

Considering our form since Pochettino's appointment had us 9th in the league, I'd hope the three quality additions will improve us a fair bit.

Defence is still far from sewn-up but I still feel relatively happy, provided we get that forward in.

Certainly no need to panic at current. Not often does a club get all their business done by the start of the season.

They want another player in, I think that is fairly clear. People seem to want wholesale changes for some reason. We have spent over £20M on two quality players. Would you rather we spend £20M on a whole new team? I certainly wouldn't. The team improved last year and learnt a lot.

God, I don't even know why people were so excited by Damiao in the first place. He's not ever going to be a top EPL striker, and I'll say with confidence I'm glad we're not getting him for the price that was rumoured.

Wanyama is a magnificent signing, and a better player than I ever dreamed we could sign in this window. I wanted Flamini, we got someone even better. Lovren is indeed a well-known player and has had a decent pre-season. We all know we're still looking for a forward or two, so patience is needed.

What he said. I'm glad we dropped that Damiao thing. Especially at over £20m.

I'm happy about no Damiao as well. Don't worry yourself yet, we all know things only really get moving the day before deadline day. And if they don't, well we're still ok.

This thread could have waited until the end of the transfer window - no one on here knows what's going to happen between now and then and therefore this thread is premature and a bit pointless really.
