I'd like to change one of my answers... Funniest-moment: The interview with Button on the BBC Forum just after the McLaren team photo. Basically, Jake revealed to JB that Eddie had asked Whitmarsh after the race if he'd thought that "the wrong driver won". Fortunately they were all able to laugh it off and everyone was having a dig at everyone else. Just a really fun moment.
Best Driver: Button. Categorically. No question. Untouchable. Inch perfect every single lap since Qualifying. Worst Driver: Maldonado/Grosjean Best Rookie: I do not consider Grosjean to be a rookie. Pic, Ricciardo and Vergne were all very good. Pic gets it for his heroic efforts against Glock. Best Team: McLaren and Lotus have a good claim although both were let down by one half of their respective garages, but Button's pitstop was sublime. Worst Team: No vote. Best Overtake: Räikkönen on somebody into Eau Rouge was almost up to the ballsiest pass of modern times, performed by Webber last year at the same venue! Funniest-moment: Räikkönen wanting "…more power"! Most Surprising Result: Alonso not scoring a point. Least Surprising Result: Button winning in a well-balanced (for him) car. Special Mention to: All innocent victims of the Turn 1 incident. Race Rating: 8.89/10 Best Commentator overall: Just seen BBC coverage Ben Edwards was as good as usual and DC is coming into his own now as he settles into the role. Edwards/Coulthard equal.
Special mention to Eddie Jordan. People can't stand him for good reason, but he was worth his weight in gold today. He was the one who got the Schumacher story out of Bernie, and based on what Schumacher said to Lee Mckenzie a very serious discussion about retirement definitely took place. He was also absolutely spot on about the start incident, and his insight as a team boss was useful as far as the Hamilton bird chirps were concerned: at a team other than McLaren I think Lewis would be in serious trouble over that.
Lets face it though... You'd have to be bloody desperate to want to try glean anything from Hamilton's telemetry this weekend.
More to the point though, who on earth tweets sensitive information? Thats like David Cameron tweeting the government bank account numbers.
That's like trying to link Alonso's title challenges in 2010 and 2012 to De La Rosa being back in a race seat.
Let's face it though... You'd have to be bloody desperate to try to get money out of someone who is £1 trillion overdrawn.
Best Driver: Button - Dominant all weekend. Worst Driver: Grosjean - You know I like Romain, but he's just as bad as Pastor for causing incidents. He's had too many collisions this year. Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne/Ricciardo - Both had an equally good race. Best Team: McLaren Worst Team: Mercedes - Their car is a steaming turd at the moment. Props go to Michael for getting something out of it. Best Overtake: Kimi on Schuey at Eau Rouge - Planned and executed to perfection Funniest-moment: Kimi wanting full power Most Surprising Result: Alonso DNF Least Surprising Result: Grosjean and Maldonado Special Mention to: Sauber - Excellent quali session ruined by that 1st corner pile up. I hope they get up there again and have more luck. Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: JB, Button of early 2009, I think he pretty much paced himself from about lap 10 onwards, looked like the package (him and the car) could have gone quicker if it needed to.. Worst Driver: Grosjean, for a dumb-ass move that deprived us of a decent race! Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne but a notable mention to Pic as well! Best Team: McLaren Worst Team: Mercedes, pound for pound they're most likely the worst team in the pit lane! Best Overtake: Kimi on Schmi Funniest-moment: Kimi doing a Captain Kirk "I need more power Scotty!" Most Surprising Result: Alonso not finishing, JB not whinging about Understeer, OverSteer and carrying on from a decent FP to Quali (I guess they've finally learnt not to feck around with the car when a decent balance is found!) Least Surprising Result: Grosjean and Maldonado continuing to play rich mans dodge'ems! Special Mention to: Hulkenburg. Race Rating: 7/10, no real fight for the lead but some good action in the midfield Best Commentator overall: DC, Crofty still sucks!
Best Driver: Button, Seb and Hulk Worst Driver: Grosjean, Pastor. Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Ricciardo Best Team: McLaren/Force India. Worst Team: Mercedes. Best Overtake: Kimi on Schumacher and Seb on Webber. Funniest-moment: Crowd cheering that Maldonado was out of the race. Most Surprising Result: Seb carving through the field like a beast. Least Surprising Result: Romain and pastor crashing into people. Special Mention to: Alonso and Hamilton, would of been better if they were in. Race Rating: 9/10 (Blows the title race wide open again) Best Commentator overall: (Myself)
Best Driver: Button - complete dominance, shakes the championship up nicely! Worst Driver: Maldonado Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Difficult one, but I'd have to give it to Vergne Best Team: Toro Rosso Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: Hulkenberg round the outside of Schumacher at La Source Funniest-moment: Kimi: 'Well give me more power then!' Most Surprising Result: A sunny day at Spa Least Surprising Result: A big incident at Spa Special Mention to: Hulkenberg - fantastic performance today, deserved a podium, made his strategy work well Race Rating: 8/10 Best Commentator overall: Coulthard I'd like to point out that Maldonado not only jumped the start, but spun at the first corner, on top of punting himself out of the racing. What a ridiculous driver he is. He's costing Williams so much money with front wings and lost points, they might as well only run Senna. I can't believe that he actually won GP2 in 2010. Also, some brilliant racing by Pic. I hope they don't drop him like di Grassi and D'Ambrosio. The only way Marrusia are going to improve if they keep their drivers the same while developing. He only lost the position to Glock because he was robbed from it by DRS, and he was on a 1 stop to Glock's 2 stop
Best Driver: Jenson Button Definitely his best weekend this year Worst Driver: Grosjean Best Rookie: J.E Vergne Best Team: Mclaren Worst Team: Mercedes Best Overtake: Kimi on shumi Funniest-moment: More POWER !! Most Surprising Result: Alonso out Least Surprising Result: Maldo Special Mention to: Sauber oh my Race Rating: 7.5 /10 Best Commentator overall: Coulthard
